Home grown rules makes English players more expensive for prem clubs. And prem clubs in general can ask higher prices. It's still overblown but that is the main things.

You're comparing Arsenal spending to that of Manchester United 😅😅 In addition, there's a homegrown tax added on any english player. Also, Everton can afford to ask for a big price, while Bologna can't keep buyers away for too long. Finally, breaking into the first team for Italy isn't the high standard it used to be, no big italian defenders to compete against.

asking for a massive commission as a pat on the back for the release clause you yourself agreed to is kinda shady tbh. In the end the total fee comes up to the market value without it so what's the point apart from pocketing as much money as possible instead of the club getting it

Absolutely, tbh, both the dealing clubs here are not the ones in position of advantage. The agent was just sharp enough to include a release clause that was lucrative for the current club when taking risk on a young striker who was looking for regular game time to level up his ability when he wasn't so obviously decent, and the release clause amount was also lucrative enough now for clubs trying to buy him because it saves them a bidding war which would've pushed the overall cost by 20 million. And they are avoiding that by agreeing to agent fees for giving the purchasing club the preference through the agent. In the end you gotta applaud the agent for hitting the bullseye with the risk of a release Clause, or to the agents ability to convince the previous club to feel that they are investing in a potential dudd.

He's not Maguire. He's faster than him, stronger than him, doesn't make ricks and will improve into one of the very best in the world (he's already just about as good as anything in the prem) and a much better defender than Stones was at the same age. Any everton fan who watches most of the games will tell you about this kid. We would be happy to get 55-60 for Onana, 30mill+ Pickford, 20mill+ DCL but you will not find one that thinks we should get a penny less than 70mill for Branthwaite.
