I appreciate you trying to get learners into tob, but you need to know what you're doing before you make a guide on something. I commented on your other video why you should not be whipping maiden, it is terrible advice to tell learners to whip maiden, they should ALWAYS be blowpiping or tbow if they don't have a scythe. A quick dps calc would show you how bad whip is. You also mage tanked maiden and encouraged learners to mage tank. Maiden drains your stats with your highest attack bonus, magers DO NOT tank in mage gear. They will get drained and end up missing freezes. You didn't prepot anything for magic, so it's even more likely you get drained enough to miss freeze. It's unacceptable to mage tank in TOB and terrible advice. I also said this on your other video, it's not good to bring a stam into the raid. You again bought a brew at bloat chest, which is 3 points. If you replaced your stam with a brew and bought stam at bloat you would have saved 2 points...

Forgive my longwinded response in advance: Thanks! The goal of these guides is to try and help learners get into ToB for their very first time, either with a random team, or with their clan or friends. With that said, I am not gonna gatekeep content from them, or their ironman friends. What should a mage prepot for maiden? A heart? Well I don't think its a good idea for someone to tell every ironman in the game that they NEED a heart before attempting to freeze role at tob. Thats unrealistic (I have over 20mil slayer xp and no heart drop lol). If a learner follows this gear setup they can bring aranea boots (a few hours of afk cannon grind) and an elidnis/malediction ward and they will never have to worry about splashing in their void. Thats a WAYYY better alternative than someone saying they need to grind a heart, or ancestral, or kodai, or corp sigil. As for BP; I just dont even see the point in someone demanding this. This maiden kill was 2:45, and it was one of our slower budget maidens. Thats like a minute slower than average learner runs AT MOST. If losing a minute on maiden due to whipping instead of BPing in a fresh raid full of 4 learners (which lets be honest, most teams dont have 4 learners running, they usually have a carry or 3) is the deal breaker then I really don't know what to say lol. Learners can whip. If learners ever get yelled at for whipping maiden; they are most likely playing with elitists who only want to teach elitist mindsets to learners. I'm not gonna be that guy. Finally; the stam. I already mentioned this before, but bringing a stam into the raid saves learners from accidentally forgetting one when they really need it. That said; I go into full detail at the bloat chest (and the sote chest as well) that now is the time to buy a stam if they didn't bring one in with them. I'm not demanding anyone bring a stam, and I dont even verbally mention that I bring a stam into the raid, but I choose to because it has the potential to save runs incase someone accidentally forgets to buy at a chest. It happens. tldr; I don't think gatekeeping this raid behind owning a heart, or losing 45 seconds at maiden because they decided to whip, or saying telling people an uncharged ward is unacceptable is the way to get new people into tob. Clearly they can find success and beat this raid without all those things, in a comfortable 20ish minute time. Demanding certain gear setups, or strategies, or telling learners "you gotta do it this way" is one of the biggest reasons why this piece of content is considered gatekept, its one of the biggest reasons why the tob community is often referred to as "toxic", and its one of the biggest reasons why learners dont even bother trying to step foot into tob. I'm not saying you're doing any of these things btw, I'm saying this is often how people feel when trying to get into tob for their very first time. Sorry for the long reply; I don't often keyboard warrior like this. I suppose its a special occasion lol.

@@Somethingsomething233 bots guides have helped me a ton making content not so intimidating, clearly you have a different opinion so I look forward to seeing your in depth KZbin video of your own

@@Somethingsomething233 Maybe i jumped to some of my own conclusions (such as the heart) with regards to your comment. Sorry if I did. But regardless, I have heard countless times that people think tob is gatekept or that they feel the community is toxic. I see it in clan chats, or on forums/reddit, or even random ppl talking at the ge. I understand that there are plenty of people out there who are more than happy to help teach learners, and I think that's a great thing! I love to see that. But IMO there is not always a "right way" to do things. There is a good way, a better way, a best way, and even a bad way. But at the end of the day, there are all kinds of ways that will work. This was a budget gear setup, sub500mil (I think my setup was about 200mil). The goal was to show some basic learner strats that WILL work for people using subpar gear, regardless of their budget, and that they can find success if they jump in (even with a full team of friends who are all learners) and with practice they can succeed. I appreciate your feedback, and I am not saying you are right or wrong, I am simply trying to say that there are many ways to do things, and while some are better than others, people can always find success and don't always have to follow the best methods to the absolute T.

@patricks8000 i understand what you are saying, where you are coming from, and I appreciate both your input and insight. Like I said, I'm not saying if you are right or wrong, although I do feel we may have different opinions on some things. I believe you offer up better strategies than I may be showing here, and I believe you have a ton of knowledge and you are simply trying to share it in your comments. I appreciate that, honestly. But my goal is still to show learners a method that they can use to get into tob for their first time, and hopefully find some form of success. That's why I teach how to full tank inferno and use south pillar cheese solves. That's why I teach first timers to learn 1:0 olm melee hand. Not because they are efficient, but because they are easy and help avoid mistakes. I like to think of my guides as simply being a first step to get learners feet wet. If my guides help build confidence to help learners at least TRY I consider that a success on its own. I fully encourage all learners to not only move beyond what I have to offer them, but to fully embrace efficient strategies when they feel comfortable upgrading their techniques. But if I can help get new people into new content, even if it's just enough to help build their confidence up enough to try, i like to consider that a success!
