In DQII, you won't be A Lonely Youth when this song no longer plays. But in DQB2, you will be...

Do make sure to use the inns before you get the Prince of Cannock in your party, as the Prince of Middenhall is the ONLY known protagonist with no ability to use magic at all!

I have found 3 versions of this song that I like. NES, SNES, and now Theatrhythm.

Spoiler for DQB2: When you first visit Moonbroke in the game and you start hearing this theme... boy, I had to stop playing because I just love it :)

» Marxally great way to pay tribute to the original dragon quest 2 as well, considering that builders 2 is basically a remake and with Moonbroke being a returning location as well as midenhall castle (albeit both in ruins by the time your builder gets there, and the certain other thing about builders 2’s overworld that’s spoiler related as well)

Less ironic and more an intentional narrative choice. DQ1 was designed for a single party member, basing its feel around the mystery of exploration. The stakes have been raised in DQ2, so our hero’s journey feels all the more perilous and by extension isolating since he has to go it alone. The juxtaposition of this track with Travelling with Friends is intended to sell to the audience how much better this game is for giving you a party to work with. Allies to back you up and help you beat the odds.

@@shinny_grimmy It's called "A Lonely Youth" and it plays in a game where the protagonist isn't alone. That's why it's ironic. No need to type a paragraph.

The overworld music changes once the lonely youths meet their other cousin. As soon as the three are united, "Travelling with Friends" becomes the overworld music. So, it's not as ironic anymore.
