Telephone | Complete Leafpool & Squirrelflight MAP

I've had a few people ask about the "story" for this MAP, so I thought I'd give a more detailed explanation: There’s no real “story” in the traditional sense, but basically the MAP started when I wondered, what if Leafpool and Squirrelflight held a bit of resentment towards each other for the secret the two shared? Obviously it ended up hurting them and causing even more problems, so I kind of wanted to explore a side where instead of teaming up, the two kind of turned against each other. Obviously since this MAP doesn’t follow a script there’s no real story and it can come across as a bit playful at times, but what I said before was the original intent. I originally considered using Dovewing and Ivypool for this MAP, and while they could technically work, I thought that would be a bit too predictable and I wanted to try something different.

Actually that makes sense because when the secret came out until the end of The Last Hope, Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw weren’t mates, so technically, Leafpool made Squirrelflight lose her mate, therefore she might have a slight resentment towards Leafpool.

Wow this was amazing!! I rlly loved that all the other characters that appeared ( the three, ashfur, brambleclaw, etc) were all like just silhouettes with eyes and had a very simplistic design compared to squirrel and leaf, it made me focus on those two more and treat the others as just background information great job!!

GEKKOZILLA I actually went back and forth debating on whether or not everyone else should have actual designs, to a point where I actually designed Lion and Jay, but I eventually felt it was best that Leaf and Squirrel get the most emphasis. (:

@@doe4003 It was after designing Lion and Jay that I decided that silhouettes would be better. :3 I honestly didn't really have a solid plan with even them to start, so I can't even say what I would have done for Holly even if I stuck with my original idea. The designs that made it into the MAP were chaotic enough, and I didn't want to confuse people. Plus, I think it may have ended up taking away from Leafpool and Squirrelflight as the main characters of the MAP if I had gone along with it. :3

Man, I was waiting for this map so much, the end result was better than I’d imagine! With the main focus, Squirrelflight and Leafpool, having very unique and stylized design, and the rest being silhouettes, for most it’s already easy to tell which characters the MAP focuses on! With the design of the side characters being silhouettes, it’s really fun and creative, and I doubt not that many MAPs have that style of characters. I really have nothing more but praise for this masterpiece, I hope many more will have the same feel as this one!

Heck. Looking at the characters, I feel so bad for the animators. Squirrelflight and Leafpool have such complex designs, it must have been a pain in the rear to animate. They’re so pretty, but complex. Good job to all the animators!

At least we can take comfort in the fact that this is a pmv map, which is mostly tweening and editing with a smaller amount of frames. Less frames means the animators can afford to use more detail in the drawings and dont have to simplify as much. Only a few animators went out and did full animations and when they did it was shorter sections, a single part of a character and not the full body, or the background character silhouettes.

I like the wacky designs of this, but I wish they had more of a body difference then just being different colors. With the pallet of colors in this I just think having a distinct difference would have been better. It's good! Just hard to figure out who the background characters were sometimes.

That was honestly what I thought after I had finished the MAP. I think if/when I make a MAP similar to this, I will be putting more differences between the characters.
