You can buy DVD mailer boxes in bulk on eBay shipped from Aus suppliers (actual boxes under 20mm thickness), these provide better protection and less chance of case arriving cracked. I've used them for DVDs, games, CDs and other slightly more fragile but very thin items that would require backing cardboard if goin in an envelope or satchel. Sometimes you need to cut the internal flaps to get a case to fit flat and under 20mm.

Save yourself time by printing the medium tracked envelope address from the dymo connect program on pc. Simply go to purchase postage labels on your eBay orders list and over the right hand side where is has “deliver to” copy the address. Then sort out your label size in dymo connect and paste it directly onto the label. If you have a labelwriter 4XL you can fit 4 addresses on one sheet. Cut them up and stick them on the envelope. Should save you time and will look far more professional.

Hi Matt. I noticed you are using medium flat rate satchels. I was using for a while, but discovered if you switch out the medium satchel for a small Australia Post padded flat rate satchel, it is around the same size as a medium satchel bag. I buy in boxes of 100 at $0.86 each. The cost is around $0.60 more for the satchel, but you can post up to 5kg at the small satchel rate instead of the medium rate. This may not work for you, but it has saved me heaps over the last year. Thanks for the videos! Tanya

Very helpful video Matt - EBay allows you to print address labels for your orders - you fit 3 per label (plus 3x return addresses). Couple cuts and you're good to stick them on the envelopes. Will save you a heap of time. Also "down grading" to the 4xl dymo printer from the 5xl was the best decision - saves so much money by allowing you to use off brand labels at a hugely discounted rate.

Pretty comprehensive video on posting ebay orders. We put the up to 3 x comics into the large green tracked card envelope. We're using up our satchels so as to just use padded mailers as the time savings and extra size means big savings, ie: we can fit a large coffee table book inside the small padded mailer vs needing a medium satchel so a $3 saving there. Got to remember the 14% ebay fee on top of your $25 quoted postage international post so really $23 actual cost + packaging + ebay fees $3.50 so about $27 in this instance to the UK

Get yourself those labels for the Dymo. It's ok if you only have one or two parcels but 10+ you're wasting time cutting then taping the labels to the packages. You could sell that dymo get yourself s thermal printer that uses generic labels much cheaper in the long run. I screamed 'are you out of your mind?' to my screen though when you packed that dvd set in only paper and bubble wrap. Maybe Australians process mail carrying each box like a waiter in a 5 star restaurant from beginning to end? Bit hard to believe though. Put a couple of boxes on top of it and it still will get crushed unless its an extremely hard box, corners still can get dented while it rolls over sorting belts and being thrown around in trucks. It really needs a box to take that sort of pressure and damage. Not great advertisement for yourself I'd say, but keep up the nice videos though :)

Just be careful selecting gift with your international orders - I think it's illegal for businesses to do that. I have a business where I sell goods (and do ebay on the side) and it's my understanding that one must select "Sale of goods" as opposed to selecting "gift" - as a business. Yes they will have to pay taxes on the other end if an item is a certain dollar amount but usually the customer who is purchasing internationally knows that.

Postage and handling charges here in Canada are insane! Definitely the worst part about reselling here. Even small packages cost roughly $21-$26 (CDN) no matter where you ship to. Buying postage through ebay for Canada Post (our National postal service) does save like 7% of fees. Unless an item can be mailed as letter mail (games fortunately work for this), it's insane how much postage costs here. Unless the item is worth like $45-$50 minimum, it's not even worth selling the item a lot of times. I sold a small xbox accessory which was a little too thick to be considered letter mail, cost me almost all my profit to ship. I ended up only making like $4 on an item that was sold for $30 because postage cost me well over $20. DVD's and games are the only small ticket items worth selling on ebay for me.

@stephenmoore2972 жыл бұрын
It is not necessary to write the product description (actually says optional) I personally write a shorthand that I recognise and match it up with the same code i write on the package. Eg his commonwealth pants, I would put CMW or Common and then stick the label over my code on the package.

Hey Matt, great video as always, I do the free box thing too! it just makes sense :D I have a question for you that I havent heard you talk about, I know you love your DVDs, but I see you skip the BluRays? Are blu rays not profitable? I've had success at picking up some 4K films and selling them on, but would love to know your view on the related media in the DVD category. Many thanks! Fari

Hi Matt, I have a question re shipping. My local post office keeps asking me for some kind of Aus Post code so that they can get a discount from shipping my items. Do you know what this is or where I could find it? Thanks Michelle

You can get the Australia Post app and you will find your QR code in the app.

@@JC-eh2lb once you find the QR code from the app save it to your wallet so you can just open the wallet for them to scan it

Did you wrap your single DVD and games in any bubble wrap before putting in the envelopes? Seems risky. No problems with damage during shipping?

Over 1000 orders and not 1 issue! No bubble wrap method just put er in

Looking like Ebay has taken away my ability to specify aust post satchels boxes and instead forcing me to use ebay labels , any thoughts on this ? Good channel btw , cheers

Check your dimensions sometimes if the dimensions are there I don’t get the option of a small satchel. I just have to reduce everything to 5cm (not the real size of the item) and the small option reappears. The Australia post my business gives you the option of using boxes which are the Australia post ones. Hope this helps

@@jodiegrace2849 must have been a glitch , it's magically resolved itself now, there are still some minor idiosyncrasies though such as dimensions as you say , :-)

@@phantomsledger357 glad that it’s fixed. I use my app to do listings and find its easier to use the I don’t know the dimensions tab too much quicker. I have a print out of all the different prices I just fill this on.

Hey Matt, I noticed you don't have a tape gun, buy yourself a good tape gun and it'll be the best investment you make, I found a great quality one at my tip shop for $1

why are you hand writing postage details for your envelopes, copy and paste from order on to preset dymo label format, print and stick. You've obviously had an Aus post a/c for some time for small satchel post to only cost you around $7. I'm still stuck on band 3 paying $8 to $9.15

and Aus Post have changed their banding, it's not about the number of items sent but the dollar value spent, need to to check some of the info your sending out

Make sure you buy satchels at post office rather than online just found out online doesn’t count towards band but at post office it does

First Time Watcher of your videos, but taken back by the unorthodox method of your shipping. By selling online you're the first representation of not just yourself as a business, but of eBay as well. (of whatever other platforms you may be selling on) Sending parcels with someone's prior shipping information shouldn't be visible to new customers, I suggest as well that all shipments should be tracked to avoid any further complications in the future instead of using stamps. Customers can say they haven't received their package and without tracking confirmation you'd have to refund their money. In regards to your Dymo Thermal Printer, my question is the Dymo Bluetooth accessible? I just recently purchased the Beeprt BY-480-BT Thermal Printer $119-$129 US which is extremely lower priced and is Bluetooth assessable as well. Dymo takes only Dymo 4 by 6 sticky labels, not like the Beeprt BY-480-BT which takes any standard 4 by 6 roll or folded sticky labels. I don't require any PC and run the thermal printer off an app and can print labels using a cellphone or tablet. Just some suggestions that I do and might help you improve your business and how others .. and I also bought Thank You Cards off eBay and stick one in every package that I ship feedback is definitely always needed. Good Luck and Happy eBaying!
