I actually really like that Genji and Kioshi were both misidentified. It suggests that maybe the Earth Kingdom/Earth Federation has kind of a bad track record for finding avatars. Or maybe that earth bending avatars are particularly difficult to detect compared to the other elements, being the most stiff and steady of those elements. I don't know, I say we go with it.

And Earth are least spiritual so they have no way to tell which one is Avatar. Fire, Air, and Water are able to be located due they have some who are close to spiritual. Air is small yet most spiritual, Fire has some cult of spirit, and Water even literally have spirits like Tui and La (Though they seem departed in the last part of the first season) but Earth is nowhere near to it and it doesn't seem like they have cult or any contact to the spirit, let alone with Avatar

So he very well could have followed the "your loyalty is to our nation first. I would also like to learn more about Szetzo, & how he helped make the Fire nation the powerful nation it was in future generations. & lastly, I want to know what avatar Salai did to make him one of the best avatars of all time.

Thank you for touching upon how truly tragic Kuruk's story is. Not only because the spirits drained his life force, but because he kept it a secret from the human world, including his closest friends, and died due to it, completely unrecognized especially due to his determination to preserve Yangchen's legacy 😔

The earth kingdom's method seems to be pretty good, it just didn't work on Kyoshi since she spent the first however many years of her life on a sky bison so her geographically location was changing quite a bit which through off the earth kingdom's method.

It’s a difficult choice, but I’d say Korra is my favorite Avatar. She’s an interesting mix of powerful and vulnerable, and I see a lot of her predecessors in her: she carries the righteous anger of Kyoshi, the showmanship of Kuruk, the deep compassion of Aang, and the self doubt of Roku. She’s smart but short sighted, empathetic but brash, strong but vulnerable: she’s incredibly human and spends a lot of her time trying so, so hard to pretend that she isn’t. I've had a lot of mixed feelings about Korra over the years. She's always felt really unfocused to me in how she's written, and I do think there were a lot of points where she genuinely did the wrong thing and was hard to like. But I think now I'm coming to this point where I'm accepting that that's the point of the character. She's the most flawed Avatar we have right now, but she's that way by design. Turbulent, torn, a bit reactionary, and not always logical. But always well intended. Her story reflects that. And like you say, she always tried. And even those times when she was hard to like are balanced out by times when she's really likable. She's a mixed bag, just like her series itself. And that's ok. That's her.

@@LettaLeeJoy, now im like if the new avatars would spirit call their old selves i think having Korra would be like a great example for them on what not to do and what to do. Since she had suffered so much and most of it was because of her attitude but she did in the end try to be triumphant and i gotta respect her dedication for it... shes like the avatar who did not train much and got lazy (i forgot his name) but he did tell aang a great lesson because of it.. idk, its interesting how this would diverge the plot in trying to fix the mistakes and to make same and then refine their skilss again. Like a new adventure..

@@rexacej8040 That's a really great comparison you make there between Korra and Kuruk. Especially interesting when you remember that Kuruk was the last Water Tribe avatar before Korra; symmetry. It could be a great theme to tie to her going forward. How she thought she was gonna be a triumphant avatar like Aang, the way we all did when we first watched the show, but then went on to be defined by her mistakes more so than her wins. And yeah, that's wisdom she could pass down to her descendants. Nicely tieing the perception of the show into the lore itself. Very nice. 🙂

The idea used in both Kiyoshi and Genji's stories about the earth kingdom messing up on identifying the next avatar is an idea I like. I can see that happening every time with the earth kingdom since the first earth kingdom avatar. It could be because the element of earth is still and sturdy compared to air,water and fire. I know Genji is a fan avatar but I wouldn't mind if he was made the cannon avatar that comes after Korra

I haven't really checked out Legend of Genji yet but I love the idea of a sandbending avatar. Since the sand benders aren't really explored in canon, it's a lot of untapped potential. And since each of the elemental nations are influenced by multiple different cultures. I would love it if the Sandbenders had some middle eastern influence. I hope the creators consider it if only cuz it'd be funny since Aang had such beef with them. Imagine some reaaaaallly old, like King Bumi levels old, sand bender hears their neighbor's kid is the avatar and they have flashbacks to that time the 12 year old air Avatar nearly abandoned his pacifistic views to kill them all over a bison. But until they'll do I'll consider Genji canon ;D

@@evergreens0173 Every Avatar makes mistakes. Kuruk had to fix Yangchen's mistakes, Aang had to fix Roku's, and Korra eventually fixed Aang's. The Avatar isn't a perfect being. How do you define failing when every one of them, in each lifetime, has to relearn from scratch lessons that they've been learning over and over for millenias. If Korra can't fix her mistakes before her death, then the next Avatar will be there to finish her work.

@@evergreens0173 How is it not as worse that Aang allowed the genocide of his entire nation and a subsequent 100 year long war, all because he ran away and got trapped in ice. The war in the first place was all started by Roku for sparing Sozin because they used to be friends. Even Wan pretty much almost killed all of humanity because he interfered in Raava and Vaatu's fight. If anything, Korra losing her past lives' memories is negligible, because her duty is for the world, not for her own Avatar legacy. Nobody except Korra and future Avatars will suffer from this lost, and even then they will still regain it after long enough time in the new cycle.

It already comes up as a question who copied who with Genji and Kyoshi, imagine that for a new Avatar Animated Series. "Oh, you decided to develop on the Sandbenders? I don't want the original creators getting their reputation tarnished because Genji gets so much attention and it's already ambiguous to a lot of people if it was real or not.

My fav past Avatars are Salai and Szeto. I too think Salai is the old man preceeding Kyoshi as an earth Avatar. And if they voice Szeto hope they bring Jafar's voice actor. Also, I may have drawn a conclusion when Aang's 7th chakra is opened in the fight with Ozai. When all those past Avatars are shown in the vision, the fifth Avatar numbering from the last one may be the Earth Avatar on Yangchen's right in Legend of Korra when Aang gives Korra her bending back. Which may show some more order in all those past lives.

Just thought to tell you that the fusion of Raava and Wan only happened the way it did because of the occurrence of the harmonic convergence. The energy that was caused by that occurrence made both Vaatu and Raava more powerful than normal (much like the comet and the firebenders). Wan was almost dying when Raava merged with him because a normal human didn’t have the capacity to hold a spirit for a long time (see what happened to Wan’s friend who was possessed by a spirit). Him touching the portal (which was where the harmonic convergence actually took place) activated whatever energy that the convergence came with. It made him strong enough to hold Raava and on the plus side, merged him and Raava permanently. Well semi permanently since Raava could be pulled out of Korra. I’m explaining because you said you didn’t understand it here 1:31

WOW..i am surprised by how many people didn't pick Aang as their fav. No matter. Aang is my favourite all the way. Aang stopped the hundred nation war, learned energy bending(first to do so by the way), stopped a volcano(a similar one which killed full fledged avatar Roku) and many more. All the while being only 12 years old. And a full realized Avatar Korra suffered from PTSD just from fighting an wannabe air bender Zahir. A prime Aang would beat Prime Korra any day cause the spiritual connection between Aang and the past avatars were way stronger. BTW Legend of Korra was a giant let down, so much so that it entirely demolished any future prospects of Avatar animated series.

@@handey1 Aang accomplished more with less. He ended a 100 year war against the strongest nation ever at the time. A comet charged Ozai. Most Avatars didn't even know they were the Avatar at 12, meanwhile Aang was fighting wars. Korra had the best bending teachers possible and very strong allies. Aang for majority of the series had only 2 benders at his side. Maybe the Dark Avatar is powerful but it seemed like the fight took 0 skill or technique as it was just up-sized wrestling.

Nah, in the story of avatar juan the humans would have to "give back" the bending they received from the fire lion turtle after returning from the forest. it would make sense that all 4 of them could give and take bending.

My favorite avatar is definitely Kiyoshi 2nd would be Avatar roku my least favorite is Korra I just feel like for her to be an avatar she certainly doesn't give what she supposed to give

I was always confused by the 10,000 thing. Like "he who knows 10,000 things". I think everyone knows more than that. I know that 1 is a number, I know 2 is higher than 1, I know 3 comes next **4 hours later** ... and 10,000 is higher than 9,999...

ok Difference between Genji and Kyoshi is that with Kyoshi the avatar was missidentified by accident while in Genji I believe it was intentional so the authorities can say "oh hey we found the next avatar" to avoid panic -... Or did I get it al lwrong

I'll be honest I like avatar Sheto. While he mostly focused on the fire nation he still helped out other people (and the other nations) he just put most of his time on the fire nation. So i'd say hes a solid guy, he wanted to help other people and all the nations, he just focused mostly on the fire nation. So yeah I like him!!!!
