The PuttOut is in short supply in the UK because the shipment that came through for all those who pre-ordered it was so faulty that they decided not to ship them out. They are going to be on sale sometime in January and full retail price is £319. Due to preordering and getting an additional discount I'll be paying £230 for mine which is a very good price for a putting mat with so much adjustability. I struggle with those little downhill left to right putts in particular so being able to recreate those at home to practice seems like a good idea to me. If you are just working on your stroke then you might as well use a carpet IMO.

From extended experience as an owner of both (early Kickstarter backer for the AirBreak) I can say without a doubt the PuttOut gets way more use at home. I've tried many different variations of the standard roll-up putting mats over the years and they are all super boring after a couple of uses. The AirBreak adds variety and a very good cup and ball return. I use it way more and my 7 year old daughter agrees - she'll putt on there for an hour straight ptetty regularly.

And, I agree, the AirBreaker is one of those "nearly, but not quite" products. It is too small; the standing pad won't properly match the putting surface for anything other than dead flat; the segment joints don't provide a smooth transition from one level to another; and the surface material isn't heavy enough to sit flat and smooth. I own one of the other PuttOut mats, made of the same material and after 2 years being down on my simulator floor, it still will not sit flat. It is only good on a hard surface. But the PrimePutt is way too expensive. I can purchase a 11'10" x 3'3" (3.6m x 1m) piece of specialist putting 'turf', a few 'cups' and a piece of wood for under £100.

I have both putting mats Andy. I absolutely LOVE my PuttOut with all of the dynamic positions. The mat material is not nearly as important as the amazing variety of putts I can practice. 100% PuttOut Wins! By the way... Why in the world are you putting with the PXG putter??? LAB is far superior!!!

I am able to play and practice pretty much all year (New Mexico USA). As such, the greens change, especially the speed, as the weather and (course maintenance) changes. So, using an indoor putting setup would seem to be of little help in adjusting to the different conditions. A nice "toy" for the cold weather shut-ins though??

I am so interested in the puttout but agree it seems NEARLY there. The issue with the prime for me is that it's crazy expensive and while high quality does not offer anything as tangible over more basic straight putt mats. I feel like the airbreak could be more beneficial for practice and also extend practice sessions by varying it up. Can version 2.0 of it have a surface similar to the prime? I think I'd gladly pay an extra 50-100 for that.

The beauty of the Puttout Airbreak is the ability via the airbladders to ensure you have a perfectly flat putt. My basement floor is very very uneven. It is very effective in that regard.

I’ve already got a couple of straight putt mats, and find the ‘bowling ally’ look too simple. I can hole out virtually every time from around 6-8 feet on them, but not so on real greens with breaks, where even short putts can get your knees knocking, so breaking putts would be far more interesting for me. Bit of a pain if it’s in short supply. Maybe Santa already got my list and has one stashed away though?🤞🏻

@@petekenny3774Agreed. My Ram one has sight lines and cross marks on it, which I found useful for honing my stroke. Nice quality and pretty inexpensive. Rolls up, and always rolls back out flat. Got one for our son, and he uses it for the same purpose.

Fair and timely! I've been considering a putting mat given the gnarly carpet over which my indoor practice putts occur tends to divert balls as its whims dictate. Hoping Santa drops a gift card that might offset a chunk of its cost.

@ you are correct, everything is out of whack here. We have a Liberal government that has destroyed our economy over the past 9 years and crashed our dollar. The exchange rates into other currencies really show how bad things really are. Right now $1 CAD is equivalent to 0.56 British Pounds.

@@TheAverageGolfer Same price with the exchange rate. 450 pounds is $800 canadian with exchange rate. An absolute insane price for a bit of turf and plastic. Prime putt should be no more than $200 canadian and that's being generous.

Raflewski Tour putting mat is by far the best in my opinion. Gareth Raflewski has coached short game to both PGA and LPGA players including former world #1 Jin Young Ko. His mat actually works on many fundamentals most players don't know, or put any thought into in practice. Here is a video with him on youtube explaining all the benefits of using his mat. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWOWc2CDZtCphcUsi=Plm1d6c0Dw4HlaQq

I think you picked the wrong one you're just putting straight putts over and over again no variant no different except for length it'll be much better to practice breakers left to write double breaks up hill downhill even though they're only 8 feet
@terrypeeples1942
@terrypeeples1942 19 күн бұрын
Well I disagree with you. I own both, prime putt is in the house and the air break is in my simulator. 8ft is plenty long enough, anything over 5ft is adequate. Air break is really good at breaking putts, it goes uphill, down hill, left to right, right to left, double breaks and or any combination of. The air break is an excellent training tool. If you want to work on form, technique, then the prime put is satisfactory.

@robertcourt8593

I think they're all over rated to be honest. Standing on a practice Matt hitting putt after putt doesn't teach you a great deal. I have a fairly smooth carpet at home, I putt through a gate maybe 3 feet in front of me with a cushion behind and my only focus is tatting the ball online at various speeds. Green reading and distance control can only be replicated on an actual green as far as I'm concerned. Read the green, judge the pace and start the ball on your intended line. The only part of that I can really practice at home is the start line.

I do love your work, but a bit of constructive criticism. Every serious KZbin content creator wants as much reach as possible, to appeal to as wide an audience as they can. Yet so many in the northern hemisphere predicate their content on their current weather conditions, with intro comments that say so. Of course having this mat is a great idea during winter, or any time really. But as summer has just begun here, I can't help but feel that you've forgotten about your southern hemisphere subscribers.

Save your cash - nothing can replicate putting on a Green. I’ve got a 9 foot Perfect Practice putting mat. The one with the holes on like a “Ski Ramp” arrangement and automatic ball return. As for replicating putting, it’s useless. But as a training aid to starting your putt on line, it is fantastic. The amount of bulk practice I can achieve on the mat in 10 minutes, would take an hour or so on the practice green at my golf course.

@Be_Good_Do_Good
@Be_Good_Do_Good 16 күн бұрын
@@markmay184you’re not trying to replicate putting on a green when you buy an at home set up. You’re trying to create an environment that you can use to become familiar with your own mechanics so you can develop a repeatable pattern with your putting stroke. Unless your house is located on a golf course there is no way you can develop that skill as it takes hundreds of hours. It’s only on a flat controlled surface that you can accurately see your shortcomings. An undulating surface might be fun but it introduces variables that will prohibit an accurate assessment of your stroke.
