Props to the men who are doing their research on this channel. While I am incredibly grateful that moms are taking car seats seriously it's always a good sign when men care enough to double check all aspects of their children's safety. Now to deciding what my 40lb 3 year old needs... high back 5 point harness I think? The fact that these high back seats go to 120 lbs is either genius or crazy. I guess it depends on whether my twins behave as a teenagers or else they'll get the 5 point restraint...I mean harness... treatment.

Awesome video?!! As a NICU nurse I have discharge many babies so car seat safety is a big thing for me. My youngest is five but very tiny she’s just 33 pounds she rides currently in all of our vehicles in a Nuna (we previously had used Britex seats but fell in love with this brand about a year ago and decided to update all of our seats) And she still rides rear facing she’s definitely below average on both height and weight (all of my babies have been super tiny from birth on) since she’s never been turned forward she doesn’t know any different she doesn’t get upset or cry or fuss she’s perfectly happy sitting that way she actually is able to sleep very comfortably in the car and she figures out exactly what to do with her legs and anytime we’re on a long trip it’s important to take breaks and let everyone stretch. My older children did go through a period where they fast in the car and seemed like they might be happier if I turned them around so they could see me but I stuck to my plan of practicing extended rear facing some thing that has been popular in other countries for a long time and that phase quickly passed. I haven’t had to go through it with my youngest I think she’ll actually be sad when she has to turn around. Anyways great video I just wanted to encourage other moms that are interested in practicing extended rear facing. Best wishes to all moms out there.

OMG!!!! thank you so much! I was told to switch to convertible when my daughter was 1 bc she was so tall and had her knees in her face! and i got blasted on social media for doing so! but the people who told me to do this was her family doctor, her specialist, public safety nurses(they give vaccinations where i live) and 3 local police station. My daughter is 2yr and she weights 24pounds! She is 37 inch of height and the normal for a girl is 33 so she is tall but skinny lolll perfectly healthy! Before we switch the car seat, she was throwing up, screaming, crying in the car! The day of the switch, she was singing, dancing feets, smiling and no more vomiting in our car! They scolded me on switching before her 22pounds.. it was not safe and all but on my car seat it was clearly written 1yr of age or more than 22pounds! My doctor said the 22pds was for big babies that weights 22 before 1yr of age... Thanks for clearing that up! I will send them this video!👍

I wish more people were educated on car/booster seat safety it’s sad to see so many kids in danger because parents aren’t educated on the subject. I sat in a booster until I was around 10 because I was bigger then most 10 year olds but my one sister actually had to sit in a backless booster until she was 14 and my 12 and 10 year old siblings both still sit in backless boosters because they aren’t big enough to sit without them!!!

Good job to your parents. And yeah it is really sad that some parents just don't care enough to make sure their child is safe in the car. Sometimes i see children as young as 4 or 5 just sitting (or standing) WITHOUT A SEATBELT like how bad do you want to loose your child because that's what's going to happen.

Thank you so much for these videos. One of my boys is in the clek Fllo. We really like the streamlined look, and that I can easily fit 3-across. What is a good high back booster and 5-point harness for him to move into (the Britax is pretty ugly)
@TheBabyCubby7 жыл бұрын
Sailing queen. The Fllo is an excellent car seat! You made a great choice with your convertible. The Fllo max's out at 65lbs so we would recommend keeping your child in as long as possible! You can move into a High-back booster but like we mentioned in the video it's best to keep them in a 5-point harness. We do agree the Frontier is not the most stylish but it's one of our favorites for their safety features and easy installation. We do like Diono either the Radian or the Rainier, they are sleek and thin like your Fllo, however in our experience they aren't the most user friendly.
@cassandra42387 жыл бұрын
Diono seats do not make useable booster seats. Booster function starts at 50lbs when the height limit is already maxed out.
@hannahscott66042 жыл бұрын
A convertible seat and the harness booster have the same height limit. Of 49 inches much of the time, so when they move out of a convertible, they’re usually too big for a harness booster. That’s why people move them to a booster seat
@TheBabyCubby2 жыл бұрын
*some* convertibles have the same while others do vary. The Nuna Rava for example is up to 49” while the Nuna Exec, which is an all in one, goes to 57”! The Britax One4Life goes up to 5’2” height limit when in booster mode!
@hannahscott66042 жыл бұрын
@@TheBabyCubby true but that’s why many move to a booster from a convertible. obviously if they have a Exec and can afford that, they’d do that and keep them harnessed but they’d move to a booster anyway even with that when the harness is done

@TheBabyCubby3 жыл бұрын

Hi! Great video!! What would you recommend for a 5 month old who weighs about 20 pounds and is 26 inches long. She fits pretty snug in our current infant car seat. The traps are tight and would not loosen anymore. I’m a little confused about what’s next because with the infant car seat I can use troller and it’s very practical. If I move to a convertible car seat, I can’t take that in and out and use on the stroller. So besides holding my baby in my arms, I don’t know if she’s big enough for the stroller
@TheBabyCubby2 жыл бұрын
Your baby is safe in a stroller as long as it is reclined and supporting her neck! Most strollers recline enough that they are safe to use starting around 3 months! A convertible car seat will be your best option for your baby because she is getting close to outgrowing the “traditional” height limit on an infant car seat which is usually 32”

sherlyn zarate Hi! I’m another mama and I get ya sis! Yes,it’s ok to go straight to a convertible! And if your a saved convertibles can stay until a kid is about 11! But I recommend a baby seat for safety once the child is 2 you will be able to switch to a convertible! And when the kid is around 7 you could go straight to a booster or even a high back booster..and then you should stop using a car seat at about 12-13...!
@sherlynzarate67674 жыл бұрын
Katie Kitten And that’s what I’m trying to understand, I have been told by a few moms that they wish they would have gone straight to a convertible as newborn because of safety. That infant/bucket seats tend to move a lot more then sturdy convertibles! Seeing her comment seems like she also wishes she would have gone straight to convertible and I want to know why! (:
@katiekitten50554 жыл бұрын
sherlyn zarate As a mom I went for an infant as it didn’t wastE my money or make me regret as I have tons of kids and hand me downs and lots of baby nieces and nephews! You shouldn’t hesitate,you should keep a choice and get a baby seat and it’s safer! :)
@bunbao46274 жыл бұрын
@@sherlynzarate6767 1 reason to use the infant car seat is because it's lighter and more convenient to take it out of a car. when your baby is sleeping, u can just take the infant car seat out and carry that instead of picking up your baby and he/she may wake up/cry. the convertible is way heavier and most people just leave it in the car.

If the child met the maximum height or weight for their harnessed convertible then there is no reason why they can’t/shouldn’t go into a dedicated booster. A combination seat still has the same maximum limits as a convertible seat. And if you go from a convertible to a combination then you likely won’t need a dedicated booster until/unless they need a backless booster.

Hi Kameryn, this is an excellent question. This question requires a two part answer. First your child must be within the weight and height limits of the booster you are planning on using the seat belt with. Second they must be mature enough to sit in the seat with the seat belt properly at all times, even while sleeping. We highly recommend leaning toward the safe side and keeping your child in a harness as long as possible. Please let us know if you need further clarification or have other questions.

Hii my 11 year old who’s about 151 cm tall and 33-34 kg as In weight were looking for a car seat, now she’s currently not in a car seat and hasn’t been pretty much her whole life but I’m now in a trauma after experiencing a car crash which my sister had, her kids in safe car seats didn’t get hurt, however the Ones without car seats got badly hurt, that’s why I’m looking for a perfect car seat

I am so sorry that happened! We are sending love to you and your family. We would recommend either a high-back or no-back booster seat, we have a lot of great options for bigger kids on our website under the "Gear" tab such as the Cybex Solution Z-fix and the Maxi-Cosi Rodifix Sport. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

For a 5 year old we would still recommend a booster seat with a harness that can transition into a seatbelt highback booster!

You don’t need four car seats over the years, because convertible car seats are called convertible, because you can change them to coward facing and change them to booster seats.

Correct! There are some convertible car seats that go from newborn to 100 pounds! Just make sure to check weight limits.

So our 8 month old is 30” long. He has outgrown that infant seat! Is it time to make the swap? He’s only about 24 pounds.
@TheBabyCubby2 жыл бұрын
Every car seat has different weight and height limits. So first check those limits for your car seat. If your baby has outgrown either limit, we recommend you look into convertible car seats so they can remain refacing for the time being. Hope this helps!

@Team Queen’ s Fearn Tucker and Bentley Forever if you don't use one at all your baby could literally be thrown through the windscreen if you're in a accident. There's a reason people invented carseats in the first place

@Team Queen’ s Fearn Tucker and Bentley Forever you realize that in a car crash the momentum would make it nearly impossible for an adult to keep hold of a baby right?

1. When a car crashes or slams on brakes, the body takes on the weight of the speed you were travelling multiplied by your actual weight. If your baby weighs 10kg and you’re driving 60km per hour, in a sudden stop your baby weighs 600kg. 2. Physics research has shown that passengers have less than half a second to react in a collision or sudden stop. Instinct makes you throw your arms forwards. 3. It is scientifically impossible for you to hold onto a child that suddenly weighs hundreds of kilograms in an accident, within the less than half-second you have to react. 4. If you use a seatbelt over you and your child, they will be crushed to death between you and the seat belt. The force is the equivalent of 30 adults, each weighing 50kg (1500kg or an entire rugby team) standing on your child. 5. At 40km per hour the blow to your unrestrained child’s head making contact with any part of the car is the same as dropping him/her from 6 metres high (a second story balcony) onto concrete. 6. At only 25km per hour, a small child sitting or standing next to the driver, between the seats or on the front seat, can be killed outright in an emergency stop if their head hits the windscreen or any other part of the car. 7. Any item that is loose in your car becomes a projectile weapon in a crash. Be aware of what you have lying around and what you give your little one to play with in the car. 8. NEVER buckle two children with one seat belt. They could kill or seriously injure one another in a crash or sudden stop. A seat belt has only been crash-tested with one person, so there is no way to tell if or how it might function with two. 9. With the body weight of a child increasing dramatically, and their body size allowing them free motion within the car, a child can be easily ejected through the windows or windscreens. 10. 75% of children ejected from a car die. The vast majority of those that survive are permanently disabled.

My son just turned one what kind of car seat should he use his only 16 pound
@TheBabyCubby2 жыл бұрын
It also can depend on his height! Most infant seats go to 32” tall so he might be little enough to stay in an infant seat but you could also make the switch to a rear facing convertible car seat!

My 4 year old is too big for the 5 point harness. How do I tuck in or remove the harness.
@DQuill Жыл бұрын
That information is located within your specific seats manual, if that seat converts into a booster. When you say too big, did the child reach one of the maximum height or weight limits or do you just think they are too big to harness? At 4 years old while legally they are allowed to use a booster it really isn’t safe yet because of maturity & physical development not being ready for a booster.

What would you recommend for a 6 month old at 26 pounds. He’s nearly maxed out on his Nuna, straps are getting tight and winter clothes are making it tighter for him.
@TheBabyCubby2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Winter coats shouldn't be worn inside the car seat because it doesn't allow the harness to be the proper tightness. The nuna infant is maxed out at 35 lbs and up to 32" which is about an inch from the top, if baby is reaching that height limit, you should look into a convertible car seat which will accommodate up to 45-50 lbs rear facing.

Hi , I have a question. I have a 9 month old & weighs 19 lbs. She still fits in her infant carseat with room to grow. I do not use the carry feature anymore or remove the infant car seat to click in my stroller for travel. She prefers to sit in stroller when we're out or shopping cart. Does not like to be trapped in car seat when we're out shopping. I'm unsure if she would be "less" safe if I were to transfer her to my convertible car seat. If installed in vehicle properly ( rear facing, proper incline for weight ect) would She be as safe in the convertible car seat as she would be on the infant car seat? Thank you
@TheBabyCubby2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! As long as it’s installed correctly and still rear facing she will be just as safe in a convertible car seat as she is in an infant car seat! Most convertible car seats can actually be used from birth!!

Could you do a video on car seats that swivel?
@TheBabyCubby7 жыл бұрын
We don't carry any in our store that swivel. We currently are only doing reviews on products we carry. The only one company we are aware of in the US is the Orbit, but it just got discontinued. The rest are European models that we are somewhat familiar with. If there is a specific seat you want us to look into, we would love to consider it.
@makeupyourmind20197 жыл бұрын
The Baby Cubby thank you. I heard about Orbit. I'm trying to find something comparable in the US. The European ones don't have the chest buckle so I wouldn't be able to use them in the US. I'm surprised and disappointed there's not much out there for parents with disabilities. :/

Do you know how much can I drive with my 6 months old baby? How much time per day? I am planning a long trip and I want to drive about 3 times 2 hours with 2 hours breaks (when he will be sitting on a flat surface - stroller cot). This trip will be 3 and a half days long (2000km).
@TheBabyCubby4 жыл бұрын
Hello! Babies should not be in car seats for longer than 2 hours without a break because affixation is possible. If you are planning to take breaks on your roadtrip, then that is great! Also, if possible, having eyes is really beneficial. Good luck with your roadtrip!

For the UPPAbaby Mesa you can use the UPPAbaby stroller! The other car seats are convertibles and boosters that will not connect to a stroller

I love Nuna. I currently have the Tavo/Pipa travel system. Wouldn't trade it for anything.... until I found out I was pregnant with baby #2. When baby #2 is born, my first born will be 15 months. So I know I need a new stroller and I'll need another car seat for her. I do want to trade in my stroller for a double and I'm considering going with a Demi Grow since I have the Pipa. BUT I'm really struggling with which convertible car seat I should switch to for my first born. Since I've had Nuna and I love it, I'd love to get the Rava, but budget-wise it doesn't work for us, unfortunately! So I've seen a lot of reviews on all sorts of brands, but I'm still having a hard time making a decision. I'd love to know or see a video of your 2019 convertible seat choices, or what you've seen sell well with great safety in the market. There's so much info out there and seeing it compiled in 1 video like you've done here or in other videos is really helpful! Sharing this video with all my friends who are new mamas. Really loved it! Also sharing with my husband so he doesn't think I'm going with the Rava just because it's expensive 😅 Love your videos. Very helpful and informative.

How do I know the convertible type is suitable for newborn? Are there any specific guide in term of reclination? Or are there convertible which is not suitable for newborn? Thanks
@TheBabyCubby4 жыл бұрын
The car seat manual will tell you whether it is suitable for a new born or not. A lot of convertible car seats now either come with infant inserts or have inserts available to purchase which make them compatible with a newborn! The car seat will also have a guide on which recline settings are suitable for the rear facing position. Hope this helps!

How do I remove the five point harness.
@TheBabyCubby Жыл бұрын
On the Britax you first remove the straps from the plate and the base of the car seat. You can then remove the straps simply by threading them out! ❤️
