Backpacking: When Everything Goes Wrong

I took my non-outdoorsy brother on his first backpacking trip, and everything seemed to go wrong! From bee stings to equipment malfunctions, this trip highlights all the things that can go wrong while backpacking. Luckily, we still had a great time and learned a lot of valuable lessons along the way.
It was a short trip, 4 miles round with 1,4000 ft elevation gain, short/challenging enough for a beginner. We camped at Spruce Camp, south of Big Sur. This is a great spot for people looking to backpack in the area. The best part is you don't need a permit to get a site, only a fire permit to make a fire.

I just found your channel, and am pretty excited about it. However, as a fellow wilderness educator, I have a favor to ask. Next time you film building a campfire, please talk about getting a permit and fire safety. So many people don't know what they're doing with campfires. They build them in bad spots, they use green wood, they don't put them out all the way. I've even seen places where people cut down live trees to try to make a fire. Please just every time you talk about fire on youtube, mention that on most public land in the US, you have to have a permit.
