I'm a drummer first before my other instruments. I must say so many guitarists ,singers/ songwriters NEVER have the Hi-Hat or Ride cymbal quite loud/clear enough in their mixes. Even while recording ,want an "in time tight performance" then TURN UP your Hi Hat in the edit control window if using 'drummer feature.

Colin do you put all the levels back to zero before you mix?

Recording I’m comfy with but mix and mastering I feel sometimes lost

Colin do you mix as you record. I do. Mainly, because I play all the instruments and sing all the parts. So do you put everything back to zero before you mix? Never tried that, too afraid to lose the mix I have worked on. I do run into a problem just before I mix where the levels are too high with no room for mastering. In Logic you can lower everything in unison but not in Garageband unless you do it to the master control.

Wouldn’t you just bounce the track and import it as a WAV to master? Then you can turn the volume down using a gain plug on that final mix track.
@LA6102 жыл бұрын
@@Theactivepsychos Yah I have done that. Not sure if it is the best way or not.

@@LA610 I think it’s fine. It’s not a requirement to have all your tracks set to zero but if you ca get them at zero before you st are t mixing (use again plug-in to reduce or add volume so your slider is at zero) then these tracks will be easier to do any final adjustments. But as far as the final mix goes you can just reduce or add volume to that as you wish.
