Tim Gunn and Robert Best Style Their Barbie Dolls

"I have a million Barbie stories. A million of them!" That's the wonderfully talented, impeccably stylish Tim Gunn, as he recalls the genesis of his love affair with Barbie, memories of early dolls, accessories, and environments, and the utter thrill of getting the opportunity to design for the world's most famous fashion icon!
Tim sat down with Barbie Collector Principal Designer Robert Best to not only talk about the dolls, but to dress them in some of the pieces from the two accessory packs created for the "Barbie Styled by Tim Gunn" collection. Tim's graciousness and gratitude are in full bloom -- he talks about the dolls as ones "we created," referring to himself and Robert -- and thanks collectors at the end of the interview, for helping to make his dream of designing for Barbie come true.
As he says in the video, "It's a huge honor, and if nothing else ever happens during the rest of my life, this is one of the highest, highest peaks."

Every time I fall in love with a Barbie, 99% of the time it turns out to be a Robert Best design. My favorites are the Masquerade (Illusion, Venetian) and all his Silkstones. This video is the first time I've seen Robert and it was fun to watch.

I think I have a celebrity crush now on Robert Best. He is so adorable. Love the Silkstones I can't believe 2020 is going to be their last and final release. I hope they use that hard plastic porcelain like material on other Barbie collections.

My sister always had Barbie growing up and I was so jealous!! Now I have a goddaughter/niece who I can't wait until she's old enough so I can spoil her with Barbie and Tim Gunn's line of clothes. I'm so excited! :o)

Project Runway is my favorite show because of my fashion dolls, my favorites being Gene dolls and Silkstone Barbies. One of my favorite episodes is designing for the 'My Scene Barbie' which I watched a zillion times.
