Aswad released Love Fire on their CBS album, New Chapter in 1981, recorded in the CBS studios in London. Dennis Brown first heard the riddim during a sound check, Dennis had just returned from his vist to Ethiopia which inspired the song. Aswad along with Michael Campbell took Dennis to Basing Street Studio to record for Simba Productions in 1983 ❤

The massively great Dennis Brown. No tribute paid to this late Hyper-Legend can adequately capture his unquantifiable contribution to roots reggae or do justice to his burgeoning talent. Even Bob Marley said this man was his favorite roots reggae artist. He was that huge. So huge in fact, that the day he was buried, Jamaica stood still....... May Jesus Christ grant him admission into the land promised to those who invest their talent to make the world a better place. Continue to rest in peace the massively great Dennis Brown. Amen.

This is the hardest tune of the early 80s and the dub version off the vinyl is MegaTuff!! Thanks ASWAD, DEB, and Mikey Dread at the controls. Yeshua said, If your leaders tell you, “Look, the kingdom is in heaven,” then the birds of heaven will precede you. If they say to you, “It’s in the sea,” then the fish will precede you. But the kingdom is INSIDE you and it is OUTSIDE you. When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you dwell in poverty and you are poverty. Selah.

Surely it's not just about vibes. Especially in this tune, Dennis is singing some prophetic guidance, sadly forgotten in clouds of ganja smoke.

So, one day Ken Boothe come to see me at my house with his wife and a Ras. He introduced him to I "This is Mickey Campbell"and I acknowledged him and thought nothing of it . Only to find out some years later that Mikey produced this song and did loads in our music. Imagine the great Mikey RIP Campbell (lol) and I as a musician had no idea of him outside of his name being mentioned to me here and there. Jah know. Gwaan Dennis.
