Bonce heads out with his father and they have an incredible hunt, walking right underneath a whole flock of turkeys. Allan shoots a gobbler with a full fan, full wing patch but short beard and 1/2 inch spurs, so he considered it a jake.

Awesome hunt and great production. Second season Turkey hunting coming up. Will hunting a roost like this mess up the birds for future? I’m in TX with rios and have found one so far before season on some public.

Yes it can mess up the roost. On public in TX I don't know that I'd recommend hunting as close as we were to the roost unless you knew there was only 1 gobbler there. For several days after they probably won't roost there.

Your ducks are black ducks. Great hunt on the Merriam's. Any recommendations on an outfitter for Merriam's?

The one was a mallard hen and the other is definitely not a black duck. Black ducks are one of our most common ducks that we hunt. That drake is way to light to be a black duck. It might be a Mottled duck. Unfortunately no I don't have a recommendation on Merriam's because we always hunted public.

@@TheBaysideLegion I respectfully disagree. The one, if not a full black, is possibly a hybrid. Without seeing the wing speculum, it's hard to be sure. Here in NC, the mallard hens are a lot lighter in color than your suzie, so she looks to also be a black duck - but hey, cameras and computer screens don't always render colors the most accurate.

After further research, we are pretty positive they are Mexican Ducks. They both had white wing bars on the speculum which rules out a black duck. Mexican ducks are common in the area, where as a black duck would be very far from home.

I didn’t know you sold them until I saw the logo on the side of one in a video. I gave that one to my 14yr old since he shoots most of the turkeys these days anyway. Lol
