Awesome! Ya it’s a little tough to get out, and tying a Carribeaner and then lantern might be better for that case. But I just wanted to spark some thought on possible options.

I use the figure 8 knot for almost everything. With slight variations. I think this might be my second favorite knot. I will have to try it in a couple situations. Under tension I have a feeling it might bind.
@TheBearEssentials Жыл бұрын
Yeah it binds under tension with thin lines - for the thicker 10mm rope it didnt seem to

First fishing knot I learned . Now everyone has a favorite. Mine is the Duncan loop knot . If I'm using certain lures or fishing for large fish , I ad a second wrap around hook or lure . I like it because it keeps everything in a straight line . Anyhow , I love the videos , I've forgotten so many Knott's from boyscouts lol. Great resource ! Thank you .

I absolutely love your videos, I learned a lot of knots that I use during sailing. However, I couldn't find the right knot for a specific solution, so I hope you might be able to help. I have a dinghy that I usually pull with the boat. I use a very long rope (30m) to do that and I don't know which knot I should use to tie it to the rails while I'm on the move. Is there a solution for that other than cutting the rope?
@TheBearEssentials Жыл бұрын
Sure I can help - and I’m sure someone form the community here might want to chime in too. Am I understanding this correctly, you need a knot that is attached from your boat rails at the side, to hold the dinghy when your not towing it - and you want to utilize your 30ft rope for this without having to cut it ?
@borsitsb Жыл бұрын
@@TheBearEssentials Thanks, I appreciate your help. :) Let me rephrase as I wasn't clear enough, apology. I have a 100 ft long rope (I used metric in my previous comment) attached to the dinghy which is way longer than I need. I don't want to shorten the rope as it's a general-purpose one I use to handle e.g. emergency situations. The sailing ship is moving, and I hold the rope in my hands. I want to attach the dinghy to the rails at the side or the stern so I don't need to hold it in my hands. As the ship is on the move, the dinghy pulls back with some force, making tying any knot harder. Do you know if there is any knot I can use in this situation? I'm happy to do a quick drawing if that helps to better understand the problem.

@@borsitsb Yes, I am making a video on the perfect knot for you now. A Rolling Hitch has the ability to anchor to your tow rope from your main ship, and relieve all the pressure from you holding it. I should have this video up next week, but in the meantime you can google that term "Rolling Hitch" if you havent already known and tried this knot. It's very similar to the Midshipmans hitch or taut-line, but used mainly for in line ropes or to relieve pressure from a tightened rope.

You’re right, I completely forgot about this step. You sit reverse the process, OR undo one end from the tree and reverse it back.
