The Beatles performing “Here Comes The Sun.”
On August 8, 1969, the world’s most famous band stepped out from London’s EMI Recording Studios to stride, single-file, across the black and white stripes of Abbey Road’s nearby zebra crossing. With photographer Iain Macmillan balanced on a stepladder and one policeman stopping the street’s light traffic, The Beatles crossed back and forth three times, led by John Lennon, followed by Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison. Just six photos were taken, with the fifth selected as the cover shot for The Beatles’ penultimate studio album, Abbey Road, named after the tree-lined street in which the studios are located.
Released September 26, 1969, Abbey Road was not The Beatles’ final album, as Let It Be followed in 1970, but it was the last one John, Paul, George, and Ringo recorded together as a band. The Beatles celebrated Abbey Road’s anniversary with a suite of beautifully presented packages released worldwide on September 27, 2019 by Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/UMe. Now available, the album’s 17 tracks are newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and mix engineer Sam Okell in stereo, high res stereo, 5.1 surround, and Dolby Atmos, accompanied by 23 session recordings and demos, most of which are previously unreleased.

I had the same thought some years ago. On a rainy day at the end of the Requiem Mass for one of my wife's sisters, as we turned to leave the Church, sunlight started to shine through the stained glass and illuminate the place. Knowing that the struggle with cancer was over, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief. This song immediately came to mind and I had to play the record when we got home. I still do.

MY brother died of oesophageal cancer in January this year in London. He was admitted to a hospice very close to the Abbey road studio where he subsequently died. I came down to London From Scotland to be with him along with our parents. I was able to say goodbye but was not able to stay to the end. It was Surreal to walk past the Abbey road studio on my way to hang out with my dying brother. I thought I might visit while I was down but it never seemed appropriate. I never did. Some other time maybe. Stuart died a week or so later and in no pain. The Hospice was amazing. We had the funeral in London too and it was very eye opening. He'd touched a lot of lives. RIP Stuart. Luv and Peace.

Basically, I grew up listening to them and trying to learn how to sing their songs (I'm from Brazil, so singing in English is a bit complicated for me, hahaha). I consider myself quite mellow and somber, and I'm generally repelled by a lot of super 'positive' and 'feel good' music. However this song literally just makes you feel good. That opening guitar riff just sings to you and the musical progression is just so tasteful and catchy you can't help but be uplifted.

It is much too easy to say it is a song of hope. While general feeling of hope is a byproduct as it goes deeper as George was very spiritual. I hear the song and it is more about acceptance. Some religions like Hare Krishna think we should only 'hope' to be with god not to desire material things. Everything thing else will fall into place. Acceptance of our place and things that come based on our good actions and that everything will be alright.

I kind of wish Sir Paul or Ringo knew this, I think it would make *them* smile (an idea that makes me want to happy cry, that *I* made *them* smile after all the smiles and songs they've given us/me.) My 8 yr old Grandson's FAVORITE song and movie EVER is Yellow Submarine, and he will put down his tablet, video games or anything else, and him and his 4 year old sister will stop EVERYTHING to sit and watch it and laugh. Watching them watch it makes me so happy to know how the music transcends generations, and gives me hope for the future. If more kids could see it (RE-RELEASE IT IN THEATERS!! PLEASE!!) I think there would be more peace in this nation and maybe even the world! Seriously!

I’m 26, been a fan since I was 14. I’ve come across other millennials and younger who are fans as well. What stood out to me is the structural innovation in The Beatles’ music. Each song has a unique identity. It wasn’t cut and paste the way modern music is now. The Beatles’ psychedelic era and experimentation was also very bold, and led me to early Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett, and other artists of the era.

I got into The Beatles because of my dad. I didn’t grow up listening to tracks my dad put on around the house, he wasn’t the type. Rather, I helped my dad re-discover them by downloading their songs on his iPod so he could play them while driving. It was this exchange-young technology meeting old music-that managed to bring us closer to The Beatles and to each other. My dad passed last year but during his wake I made sure to play a lot of Beatles and Bob Marley-only happier tracks, including this one. When I listen to this now, I feel a bit sad but in a warm way. It makes me miss him but also makes me hope that wherever he is, he can hear this song and know that everyone is alright.

I think this is one of the best songs in this world. I’ve always thought John was the heart of the Beatles. Paul was the brain. George was the spirit. And Ringo was the muscle that made the songs move. 4 powerful components of one incredible band.

Perhaps the most beautiful song ever. There are definitely more complex instrumentals, more technical guitar playing, more impressive vocals, but there isn't a single song that is more beautiful than this one. The amount of happiness that you get from listening to this song is insane. It's more addictive than any drug known to man. There will never be another band like the Beatles, ever!!!

He had every single album and all their books, etc. He taught me about The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and all the other greats before my time and all from a record player in his bedroom. Thank you, Daddy. :)

#Calling all Beatles fans. I was lucky's enough to see them when they visited Edinburgh . They played a concert in a Cinema called the Regal. Queued all night for the Beatles. When Merseybeat got going a lot of bands came to play in Edinburgh. The Searchers played in a dance club and I was near enough to grab the drummers stick when he rested them. Of course, I did give them back. Happy memories of all of those days. Glad I'm alive to share with you and of course, living at the times in the 60s when the Beatles and Elvis. Sonny and Cher filled the lives of us teenage schoolgirls.
