As I learned while completing "sniper" training in the Army, the most effective way to ignite a "flammable" target is to use either a tracer round or a incendiary round. A regular round will not "spark" or ignite fuel or most other "flammable" substances or liquids.

Exactly. Gas doesnt explode. The vapors ignite and can appear to explode in an optimal condition. And cars exploding in a movie is all fake. They use Thermite or something like that.

You guys made me remember a game we used to play when I was in HS. We'd go camping in the Mississippi River islands, smoke a bunch of weed, drink a bunch of cheap beer, and see who had more guts. This was accomplished by sitting around our campfire and throwing cans of bug spray into the fire. The first person to run, loses.

They should use Tannerite to blow shit up, its a blast and legal to! It is safe and extremely easy to use, just mix the two components together then set where you want to blow then shoot with a (Rifle). Fire wont ignite it, dropping wont ignite it, shooting with shotgun or hand gun won't ignite it only shooting with (high powered rifle) so it is very safe to use!👀👀👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎

As someone who has been driving a car while getting shot in gas tank and did not explode. During police investigation I was told that liquid gas does not explode it is the vapors in a sealed container that causes explosions.

As a firefighter I can tell you that gasoline will not explode when be shot at, it's only the fumes the gasoline that catches fire, that's why at gas stations have signs saying no smoking while at the pumps for that reason.

Try putting gas in one of those pump sprayers. The ones with the handle on top with the hose and a spray tip. Most people use them for gardening but would definitely build up pressure. FYI if you blow yourself up not my fault lol. I don't want to be responsible for taking out the bell life. Big fan from Wisconsin

@@derekm3528 that was my recommendation in my post. I haven't tried it but I'm fairly sure it would work. I am pretty sure you'd still need a flame as well. My recommendation was a Ziploc bag of fuel on top of the target with a flare behind it.

It's the fumes that are flammable. If you could drop a match in the liquid it would put it out with nothing happening. Thats why engine injectors spray a mist. Also takes the correct mixture of o2.

FYI the lower the octane the more volatile it is. Common misconception is the higher the octane the more dangerous it is. It takes more to ignite the higher the octane. That's why some vehicles get a valve rattle on low octane because it's igniting before the spark arrives and when running higher octane it takes the spark to ignite it at proper time

Like many others have said, you need pressure to capitalize on the vapors properly. The vapors are the only thing that’s flammable. With just a giant open bucket, all the vapors are flowing up and you have very little that’s ever going to catch fire

Try using a soft point bullet instead of a FMJ. You won’t need a .50 to blow the jug up. The soft point will turn a 1 gallon water bottle to vapor from a .30-06. Gas needs to be compressed to explode, but if the gas cans were hit by a soft point hunting bullet, the resulting explosion may spray enough gas onto the fire for the desired effect. Just a thought guys.

Good video. As everyone said, vapors. If you want a good spray out the back, use a hollow point for a bigger exit. Ball will just punch a hole, especially with the .50 cal. Next time maybe try a soda can full with a Hollow point .22 LR. Should get a little better results

Tape a road flare to a propane tank or stick the flare in the dirt in front of the tank. Shoot directly above the flame and booooom. Also find some interesting stuff to put tannerite in.

You need the fire triangle. Fuel (gas), oxygen, and spark. To get a boom; the gas and oxygen need to mix and then add a spark. Which is why many are stating vapor; gas and oxygen mix. Shoot the bucket with your can launcher. You need the bucket to break and the gas to rapidly mix with the air as it hits the fire.

Another way to think of getting a big boom is a fuel injector or carburetor on a car. Both aerosolize a little bit of fuel with the air making a fine mist. Then spark plug. And boom.

We tried this when we were kids.. we used 3, 5 gallons jerry cans of the cheap stuff and used my old ass 1976 model AR-15 223 that I still to this day. Anyways, using the AR-15 it did the exact same thing as your guys 50B. We decided to use a shotgun on the last 5 gallon using double ott buck. The shotgun worked better but all it did was made a big POOF and burned away.. Your gonna need tracers or Mag rounds if you're gonna use your 50B or 556/223 AR. The tracers are cheaper for the AR.. All grades of gas will burn the same and will all poof the same.. I was home for the weekend from Campbell Lodge Boys Home during this time hahaha.. if you guys remember that place... had to do 3 months in that place for my Emancipation from school.. they called it "getting used to the work force".. so I had to work on a farm picking tobacco.. which really wasn't that bad but that's a whole other story... I'd like to come down a shoot with you guys sometime.. I'm not far from you all..

Heptane is the volatile component in gasoline not octane. It is not exploding because it is not atomizing with the air. Think of a carburetor, to much fuel wont run to much air wont run.

Here just a suggestion... That size can needs too have 1/3 of it filled up. Set in the sun for a few hours. The sun putts pressure in the can's more pressure bigger combustion. this is y the gas fail on u guys! read this. The number on each button at the gas pump - 87, 89, 91, or something similar - is an indicator of how prone the gas is to these unwanted explosions. The number is called the octane rating. The higher the octane rating, the more the gas can be compressed without exploding.

Low octane gas burns easier than high octane. Only the gas that’s is contact with air will burn. The fumes are more explosive than the liquid. You can light a bucket of gas on fire and only the surface will burn. Think about an engine. The gas is mixed with air and put under extreme pressure. The vapor mixed with air explodes

The explosive part of gas is the “vapour”. Eg, a half full can of gas is more explosive than a full can, as it contains more vapour. When the vapour is under pressure…..that’s when you get an explosion. (You can actually put out a lit match in fuel if you are fast enough to get past the vapours…..but I wouldn’t try it 🤔😉)

You need to use tracer rounds, probably work a bit better but not much. Without pressure in the container of the fuel it has no explosive quality. Don’t know what you call gas like we do in the Uk but a propane tank would likely work best
