I saw this for the first time this morning: "If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together. The mediator could make God stop beating me, and I would no longer live in terror of his punishment." (Job 9:33-34 NLT) Now compare that with: "For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity-the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time." (1 Timothy 2:5-6 NLT) As they say, THAT'LL PREACH!!! I'm so glad to be living on this side of the cross! ❤️😊❤️

It is not always true that our problems and our circumstances are the results of our choices. Sometimes this is the result of the fallen world. Sometimes it’s the result of other peoples choices. Mercy is when you don’t get what you deserve. Grace is when you get what you don’t deserve. God is so mighty and yet so intimate with us. ”What is man, that you make so much of him, and that you set your heart on him,“ Job 7:17 God’s heart isn’t set on the mountains or the universe-it’s set on me! On you!

Years ago, I went through a valley in my life. There’s a quiet lady with whom I had only a few conversations because she’s very quiet and doesn’t speak much. She came to my court hearing and just sat in the back. She said she didn’t know what to say but she wanted to be there for me. So many years later, I can’t recall any advice given by my more outspoken friends, but I will always remember her kindness, even though she said almost nothing. Her shy and quiet demeanor was just a comfort to me.

Wow. Today's reading was tough. Job had calamity and sickness brought on him for no reason. But, then I saw Job 8: 9, "... for our days on earth are but a shadow." God is God, He is eternal, I am not. In Job 9: 2, Job was right in saying "...But how can a man be in the right before God?" Truly, no one can be in the right before God. We wouldn't have needed a Savior if that were the case.

Yes, reading through Job can be tough. But it is a reminder that difficult things sometimes happen in life, often to people who haven’t done things to cause the calamity. I know several folks who have had cancer diagnoses and face challenging and painful days ahead of them. Bad things happen to bad people but also to good people. Those who know the Lord have a refuge and a friend to walk with them through these challenges.

It’s amazing that Job 6-7 is recorded scripture, and says a great deal about God’s character. Job is working through the depths and horror of grief and loss, crying out for God to crush him and end his existence. In Job 7:17, 19 he asks “Why do You have to pay attention to me? I can’t even swallow without You inflicting more pain!” And in this, God hears and He cares. God lets us go through the anger and despair of our grief because that’s where we begin to learn and see Who He is. He is patient with our despair.

Job 9 33-35. 33 If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together. 34 The mediator could make God stop beating me, and I would no longer live in terror of his punishment. 35 Then I could speak to him without fear, but I cannot do that in my own strength. Job is a frightening reminder that the answer is ‘none.’ I am thankful for the Blood of Christ that can cover us and make us blameless in God’s eyes. ”“Truly I know that it is so: But how can a man be in the right before God?“ Job 9:2 ESV

Watched this yesterday as my day 5, but didn't comment.. You can fill lots of Job's pain in these words. I realized through this story that your walk with God really is personal, listening to lots of opinions from people, even when they have an honest opinion does not equate what your self-reflection with God is, and how we should always realize God's heart and mercies are set on us

God loves us and understands our pain and suffering. Job is going through such grief and complains bitterly, yet does not lose his faith in God. His "friends" are of little comfort to him and he searches his soul for the reason he has been put into such torment. He realizes that the answer is not within himself nor any earthly source, but God alone can answer. God hears Job, but remains silent for the time being so that the strength of faith and the compassion of God Almighty may be displayed and go full term. If Job's heart turned we would surely know it because God would respond accordingly, but God understands our need to complain in suffering and is compassionate in His patience. We likewise have to take the lesson of Job to heart, not lean on our own understanding, and instead lean on our faith in God, even while we complain.

He wished his friends were mediators rather than being judgemental. Sometimes is good to stay silent in time of consolation to our family and friends just like Job's friends when the came

I'm using the She Reads Truth Bible and one thing that it mentions is that Job asks questions that Jesus answers later on in the New Testament. In Job 9:32-93, Job asks who can help us approach God. Jesus's answer is in 1 Timothy 2:5. Job 14:14 asks if there is life after death. Jesus's response is in John 11:25. In Job 16:19-21, he asks if there's anyone in heaven working on our behalf. Jesus's answer is in Hebrews 9:24. In Job 21:7-15, Job asks what is of eternal importance in life. Jesus answers in John 3:16. In Job 23:3-5, Job asks where we can find God. Jesus answers in John 14:19.
@ThatOneChristianBoy Жыл бұрын
I think Job 9:32-34 expresses our need for Jesus, although he has not been born or prophesied yet, because it says "if only there was someone to arbitrate us" (man and God) "Someone to remove God's rod" (forgive man for their sins). I don't think it refers exactly to Jesus, but why we need him. (I'm using NIV, so it may be different than yours.)

I just started this plan and am enjoying it so far, but I am a little confused about the book of Job being placed in the middle of Genesis. Especially since Rahab is mentioned in chapter 9 v.13 and there are so many references to the Psalms throughout (which maybe it's the Psalms that reference Job). Either way, the verse mentioning Rahab is just confusing to me if this happened so early in the narrative. If you know, please comment, I would love to have a clearer understanding. Thanks!
@metamora5410 ай бұрын
I noticed that too. I’m going to research that a bit about Rahab. But they put Job here since they are trying to do a chronological order and I think Tera Leigh explains that somewhere. It’s a book with no clear timeline. Stay with it and keep looking for Jesus on every page. ❤
@metamora5410 ай бұрын
If you look at different translations, Rahab in this verse is not the person we think of. It could mean a “sea monster” or “pride”. Look up the Jubilee Bible for example.
@walkinginthelight52810 ай бұрын
I wondered about that too. According to cross references in my ESV study Bible, "Rahab" often refers to another name for Egypt rather than the woman we normally think of. I hope this helps.

Where is my sin in this situation? What do I need to own in this situation? Job was blameless but his friends made these actions as a result of something Job did. Job stood firm knowing he was blameless and something greater was going on. He knew he was going to follow through with God regardless of his pain and afflictions. Was this more about Job or more about proving to Satan that there are righteous people able to withstand the fiery darts of the evil one?
