Man I am so super duper happy to see my favorite French Gaul Superhero of the Century known as Asterix and his Muscleman friend Obelix be in this YTP. Good use of Asterix in Egypt since that was a hoot to watch when learning about French Animation TheBigL1! :D

It's one of those bodies of work I never really got the true scope of until recent years. The sheer amount of films, games and other media is pretty wild, not to mention how faithfully they seem to portray the source material.

I'm reminded of the time I took a nap on a couch and dreamed that I walked over to a couch and fell asleep on it, then dreamed that I fell asleep on a couch and dreamed I walked around an ethereal, ill-lit hallway. It was way more interesting than it sounds; my surroundings kept ketting darker and I had to dream I woke up a couple of times before I actually woke up. Also, very pleasantly surprised to see Asterix and Obelix atound here. They get far less credit, in general, than they should.

Why is the aspect ratio inconsistent?

A few reasons, actually. First, the sources themselves were different aspect ratios (and I personally don't like stretching anything from 4:3 to 16:9). Second, the repeating gag with the big guy running up the ship's mast rotating changes ratios since I needed to keep him (mostly) visible and centered. Lastly, "And that's how all of us met!" has letterboxing over it to match up with the Bo-bobo Theater outro. The show Bo-bobo itself actually plays with aspect ratio too, even though it was made for TV - Bo-bobo Theater and some other dramatic moments have letterboxing added to the top and bottom of the screen to make it look like widescreen, and there's even the fight between Bo-bobo and the Mean Green Soup Alien where Bo-bobo specifically asks "Can I get a letterbox format, please?", and black bars appear in response. "Yeah, this is the director's cut, baby!"
