Loved your answer about staying fit as a Dad as it’s an issue so many people deal with. I’ve also found it takes improved time management skills, & planning out your workouts to get them done while also being fully present as a Father, & being a good husband/co-parent so that your wife doesn’t feel your workouts create a parenting imbalance. 👍

A big part of the balance with the time management is the sleep training for the new baby! "TakingCaraBabies" changed our lives and got the new borns sleeping thru the night till 7-8am (which was our target) by 3-4 months old. If you can get that part consistent, it makes daily morning training super easy.

Amazing advice and encouraging story! And makes perfect sense - if you can weather that storm then your training will be so much more resilient. I haven’t broken the news yet as we just had our scan, but I’ve got another one on the way too… it’s only going to get tougher 😂😅

You are such a breath of fresh air in the realm of fitness: an area of discussion that is so perforated with dogma. Ever since I first started training 4.5 years ago, I have had the notion that one should train for optimal performance across domains rather than following a single type of training; much to the confusion of people who I trained with. I just bought your ebook yesterday. Much respect to you!

To train manual dexterity and fine motor skills and your brain.. take up speed cubing! To train ambidexterity, peripheral vision, reaction speed and your brain.. take up juggling!

Then the next step is one handed speedcubing followed by juggling and solving the Cubes simultaneously. Personally, I will never even attempt to think about trying that.

how about practicing sutures or making stitches? there are pretty inexpensive training kits online. learn em with the traditional holds and grips, and then make up your own. I like that single handed juggling cubing. that's intense
@jnananinja7436
@jnananinja7436 3 жыл бұрын
There are videos of such feats.. but honestly you dont need to take it to such freakish levels. But a legitimate, functionally intense challenge is to juggle on a slack line... even three balls is a pretty difficult in that situation, but 4-5 clubs is an awesome feat of balance, coordination and concentration.
@weavehole

@@jnananinja7436 Hehe I can barely do 20 catches with 3 balls and have only solved one handed once, with a lucky sune. No muscle memory for the last layer.... well practice makes perfect I guess. Or at least fairly competent.

A superhero-themed video idea I have for you is "how to ease back into being a normal civilian" after retiring as a superhero -- i.e. how to stay relatively agile and not get that "retired football player beer gut" as you ease into being older, and no longer feel like you need to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger -- e.g. how to avoid becoming Mr. Incredible at the beginning of The Incredibles.

being a father has helped me with training as well, my children are a good effective weight that keeps shifting. I sometimes put my oldest (7) on my shoulders and lift my youngest (4) in my arms and walk a mile when they're too tired to walk home from their grandparents. in my defense I've had a few beers and think myself stronger than I am but then I still pull it off.

Helps me keep track to have something visual posted up and able to check off and erase after it's been completed for the day or week, etc. Not just fitness goals, but certification goals, fasting goals, reading and writing, and hobbies. You could do Batgirl/Cassandra Cain and focus on her body reading abilities? Or the effects of emotion on training and strength like Starfire? Or talk about the difference between size and power using the Wasp as an example? This could add in some of the Ji Kune Do theories? There has to be a video idea with the new Hawkeye/Kate Bishop. Hope this helps.

Best advice I can give to parents is understand that sometimes you will HAVE to disappoint someone in your family in order to exercise and meet your goals. Remember your training is to keep you healthy so you can be there for your loved ones. Sometimes it just has to take precedence. Please, don't take this comment as a means to put training above all else, but remind yourself and those around you that it has greater purpose than just losing some weight or getting stronger. Lastly, get your kids involved early! Nothing more fun than working out with family.

18:40 That’s a good point right there. I’m running around with a stiff index finger as a result of a bike accident. Took me a while to come to terms with it, but now (3 years later) it feels like a part of my biography, one of the many things that make up the whole me. It does hinder me in everyday- and my sportslife, I’m less streamlined in water and I will never again throw a hard punch, but I see that as a natural limitation now, and who to blame for that?😊 Onward!

I've got a book on the way from amazon about training with injuries and rebuilding the body. After my recent shoulder surgery to fix chronic instability/subluxation I just asked my physiotherapist the other day if I'll ever do handstand pushups again like my early 20's. He said he doesn't know the steps I'd have to take progress there and it may be some time but it will be possible. But yes, some think it's weird the things that I want to be able to do with my shoulder again without risk of subluxation or full dislocation. I wear wristbands with a zip up pocket to hold a supply of my medication and painkillers. And then to cover my watch on the other wrist to somewhat protect it and so people don't see it's quite pricey and might be worth mugging me for...

For female superheroes to focus on: Catwoman- flexibility Chun-Li- (not traditionally a superhero but a good way to focus on) lower body (Miruko is a good alternative) Wonder Woman- stamina and endurance Black Canary- (can't exactly train supersonic screams but) reflexes and combat Powergirl- (It's a bit of a stretch but hear me out) her breasts are as famous as they are because her chest muscles are incredibly developed so i guess upper body strength Black Cat- gymnastics training Avatar Korra- waterbending jk swimming (and the lung capacity that allows her to hold her breath as long as she can) Now that I mention Avatar Ty Lee could probably work for either flexibility or gymnastics

I know you already have videos on Assassin's Creed, but hey, Kassandra is a female hero and she is a solid unit! Not much parkour involved there, just pure well-rounded strength, stamina, and killer fighting skills.
