@@frankbasile3662the hardships of seeing your child grow up, and having to let them grow even though they grow apart from you. Kratos learns to walk with Atreus just as parents should walk with their children. Kratos is walking trauma and problems, he could let those consume him, just as we can with our trauma and problems, taking things out on our children, or he could conquer them to give his son the best chance, a better chance than he ever had. Yes it’s a video game, and yes the story of the game isn’t realistic, but the THEMES of parenting is obvious for the last two games, so much so my own father and I had grown together with GOW 4 and 5’s story. He didnt know who he would find, just that one of the last giants lived there and that he needed to go there. Hence his comment "I thought youd be bigger" and the "your kind" comment. This is also referenced in Ragnarok with a voice line by mimir, where he says that baldur was looking for a giant in midguard but found kratos.

1:19:45 Correction: Thor very much DOES care about the deaths of his sons. That's his entire motivation for hating Kratos. However, Odin never lets the dude think on his own or speak his own mind because he needs Thor submissive and able to be manipulated. That's why Odin is constantly so viciously rude towards him, calling him a useless hunk of muscle that he liked better drunk. Thor could kick Odin's ASS in a straight fight, so Odin makes sure it never comes to that by keeping Thor beneath him mentally. In short: Thor isn't angry about Magni and Modi there because Odin isn't ALLOWING him to be angry about it yet.
