Thanks for your great explanation. Could you please make a lecture about tilted pad thrust bearing design? And may I ask your note-taking application name?

I'll have to add that to the list! It may not have super high priority just yet, I have a pretty full plate with my main job, so I don't get that much of a chance to develop extra material! I use Microsoft Onenote 2007 for the inking. It is the last version of the software where you can customize the toolbars (no ribbon bar).

that was exactly what I needed, which book are you referring to?

I'm glad it was helpful! I'm referring to Shigley's Mechanical Engineering Design, 10th edition. In case you might be interested in my other content, I have it organized into these playlists: ENGR122 (Statics & Engr Econ Intros): kzbin.info/aero/PL1IHA35xY5H52IKu6TVfFW-BDqAt_aZyg ENGR220 (Statics & Mech of Mat): kzbin.info/aero/PL1IHA35xY5H5sjfjibqn_XFFxk3-pFiaX MEMT203 (Dynamics): kzbin.info/aero/PL1IHA35xY5H6G64khh8fcNkjVJDGMqrHo MEEN361 (Adv. @@TheBomPE thanx! Let me ask you one more thing. Lets suppose that if the force on the hook is directed downwards with an angle of 30o wrt to the y axis. Then how can I express the stress distribution. Since it will have a x-component as well it is not that obvious for me. Could u elaborate on this plz...

Do you still look at comments? If so, I have a question. If an I beam is curved on the top... and straight on the bottom, Is it calculated as top curved beam and bottom straoght beam? Say use the low side position as an inside radius position. How can it be done.

I do still see the comments periodically, but I have become occupied with certain other enterprises. KZbin has proven to not be a great way to support my family! :) If I understand correctly, you have a variable-height beam. Without getting all the info, my uninformed guess is that the curvature may not be super significant relative to the beam's length. What I would likely do if that is the case is kind of just ignore the beam curvature since it would not be hugely different in that case. I would probably just treat it like it is quasi-straight.

@@TheBomPE Thank you. I watched and worked your vidieos for hundreds of hours. It got me there. It is a short beam. 825mm I beam.

I use Microsoft OneNote for inking. I use Mathcad 15 for solving the system of equations. I use Camtasia for screen capture and editing. Thanks for watching!
