I also thought Scarlet was a much better book than Cinder, but definitely prefer Cinder's character. But for me, Thorne really steals the show!!! The banter between Cinder, Iko, and Thorne were some of my very favorite passages from books of all time. I could read convos between those three ALL DAY LONG.

I agree, they're not the best books, but they're certainly fun and I found them entertaining. I also, liked Scarlet a lot better than Cinder. I almost didn't pick it up, but I'm glad I did! Great review!

I loved Wolf too! I think each relationship represents different types of people. Some people need time to know they love someone, and others know instantly they can spend their life with someone. So I liked that aspect of describing different people, and even the different personalities among the main cast. If they all shared the exact same qualities then it would be unrealistic because not everyone you encounter shares exact characteristics. Anyways, I like seeing flaws from main characters, makes them feel human. Also I like each character for different reasons Cinder (intellect, and sass), Scarlett (feisty, just-do-it attitude), Cress (kindness, awkwardness), and Winter (I cant wait to read her story!).

For all of you peeps who didn't read scarlet but watched the spoiler part any who... WOLF IS NOT EV WOLF IS SOOO HAPPY FLIRTATIOUS AND ADORABLY AWKWARD AND SHY AND CUTE AND ADORABLE AND HE CARES FOR SCARLET MORE THAN HE CARES FOR HIS BROTHER RAN. HE IS JUST SO CUTE AND HOT AND NOCE AND HOT AND HE IS BEST CHARACTER AND HE IS JUST SO CUUUTE I TOTALLY SHIP SCARLET AND WOLF FOREVEEEER!!!! I really enjoyed Wolf as a character. Whoever thinks not will have a sophisticated conversation with me over cheesecake and a fresh lock of his haphazardly hair. Thank you for hearing me out. (:

Great review! Cress gets even better! Marissa Meyer is actually is actually writing a 256 page book (or maybe novella?) on Levana and Luna! It's coming out in January next year. I'm excited to learn more about her side of the story!

I'M BACK WITH FEELINGS CAUSE I FINISHED did you knowingly wear red or was it coincidental?;) Marissa Meyer is actually writing a book called Fairest which I believe is set in between Cress and Winter and it's all about Levana and the Lunars (I actually thought it was going to be a novella but apparently it's going to be a fulll length novel and come out before Winter) Did you feel like Wolf and Scarlet's romance was almost a tad Twilight-y? (I mean, he did try to eat her at one point)

Personally I think both Cinder and Scarlet were amazing books with such unique dynamics. The diversity was such a major part of the story, it made me happy (as a non-white person lol). I also enjoyed how each character had a different personality and something different that made them unique to the story that wasnt cliche and tied the story well. Now about the romances: scarlet and Wolf had a lot of chemistry that intrigued me: both are fierce, but both also have a gentle side. They compliment each other well. Kai and Cinder have chemistry as well: what I like is that Cinder was very confident with herself when around Kai and wasnt fangirling (ok some part of her was fangirling, but her feelings for her him were real, it wasnt just a childish crush). Contrary to what this KZbinr thinks, I think they actually di have chemistry, just a different chemistry compared to Wolflet, and I still supported them all the same (Wolflet is my otp tho, not gonna lie). The group all had a connection to each other which is what helped them become such a close knit group of friends, and was my favorite part about them. I liked how each of them didnt have a too broken down, too specific role in the group but worked well together all the same, and were a well oiled machine. Like the ships, the group also had tons of chemistry and each had their own unique way of showing affection, and I absolutely love how marissa incorporates the characters into the story by allowing them to interact in a way that the modern fairytales never could. I dont understand why u thought marissa had a mediocre writing style: third person allowed an unrestricted readability to the series, and everyone's point if view was included in special ways. Plus, there is a sophisticated yet simplistic feel to marissa writing that I admire. Thorne and cinder were hilarious, and (SPOILER IF U HAVENT READ WINTER) I like how levana tried to teach cinder that friendships are more important than love by threatening to kill him (you know, putting aside the fact that he almost KILLED MY BABBYYYY 😭🤧). The friendships between the crew felt real and bonded, and it felt somewhat like what I have with some of my friends and family. The setting was actually well described, although I do agree that some of the futuristic aspects, such as the holographs, as one example, could have been brought to life in a more sensual manner. I dont necessarily agree with Scarlet being immature, while I do agree with the fact that Cinder felt a much more sophisticated character. Anyone in Scarlets situation would have been in denial. After all, someone basically said to her: "your grandmas been lying to u ur whole life". Her maturity may have been a slight shortcoming, but her strength and stubbornness is something I admire, and she proved to be thoughtful when (spoiler for cress) she told the rest of the rampion crew to tread cautiously with cress, know, since she was on a satellite for 7 years. Levana was a villain that was well thought out. Whenever she did something evil, aka the whole series, I found myself clenching my fists in anger. Marissa truly brought the characters trials and errors to life, along with their personalities. I think it's safe to say that I fell head over heels in love with the lunar chronicles, and that marissa meyeris the best author ever, thank u and goodbye. Later, reading this comment: realizing I went on a rant lmap. Edit: I forgot to say this before, but cinder was actual amazing. It had a futuristic feel to Divergent and had a fastpaced feel as it brought the world together. Scarlet had a much calmer feel, being set in a small town, and both books deserve equal love. To me, each book as extraordinary and reading them was the best experience of my life. I will forever be a part of the LC fandom.

I feel like the series didn't get really really good until Cress, and all the books after it were so spectacular. Cinder and Scarlet were still good books though.

Thank you! Scarlet irked me the entire time. Her pigheaded demeanor makes for a lack of growth or characterization - I got a very one-sided view of her character. I got more from Thorne as a character who had a lot less "screen" time.
