"inhaling" is such a good word for how i also read Orbital. no matter where i was--home, train, at one point in a small club waiting for a concert to start--i felt like i was up there in the station, looking down at earth. i've never read language be vividly transporting before. the imagery, the sheer music of it all! it honestly shook my soul a bit.

@@stevies-readies you’ve echoed my own experience of reading it in your comment. Although I couldn’t read it on the move, I literally sat in the same spot and read it from start to finish in 24 hours. It was so gripping the rest of my life was halted for the duration.
