I think NFS Underground 1 & 2 takes the cake in term of intros. Most racing intros goes by nothing but a pack of cars on a countdown. Obviously to fit the underground mood, they had to make it different. I like how there is a random array of introductions ranging from the usual calm arrival to hurrying with haste because some drivers are impatient, without forgetting that one intro from Underground 2 where you be balling with some burnout and hydraulic jumps, only to be kindly pointed out to brace yourself. Not only that, they all have different time so you can't just assume it shall be for 3 seconds, you have to adjust yourself if you want to time your head starts just right. Subtle details but appreciable and I am sure it is part of Underground's charm. For as much as we rightfully hate EA, let's face it, they intelligently capitalized on the trend back then ... I wish they were still doing intelligently.

Carbon and Most Wanted have different race starts, it depends how opponents you have to race against, also checkpoint and toolbooth

Same with NFS The Run. There are like 3 different starts for time trial (checkpoint race) and 5 different for normal (sprint race), battle mode, rival race. As well different entries like the Blacklist ones from NFS MW 2005 (similar) in the story mode.

My favorite intro events are the ones from Most Wanted (2005) and Carbon, especially the countdown sequences with the numbers rushing right pass and a blue ring circling the numbers, in their respective games.

They are not real NFS and they are not part of NFS really. For some reason for North America they were marketed as NFS only there and nowhere else. They are closer to the Dirt series. Also Motor City Online can be considered as NFS but most people forget it just like V-Rally 1-2. These NFS are not NFS really more like "marketed" as NFS in some countries. Edit: If V-Rally was part of NFS what about V-Rally 3-4?
