It’s horrible at the truckstops. People flying in the lot, driving behind you when you are backing, taking breaks at the fuel island. The old school etiquette is gone. Some of the older truckstops still keep the old way going strong though. I still love driving my truck all over the country though.

Cat stopped in 2010 when they did those accert compound “twin turbo” setup on the c-15 to retain under emmision law. They kept failing and cat gave up on it. That’s what everybody says. Even caterpillar is sick of emissions

Mike, the name was the forbes diner in New Haven. The diner is now a Dunkin, go figure.😂 I work at the fuel terminal right there in the harbor. Trucking has changed so much since those days. Love the content brother.

Good morning Mike, you triggered a memory a while back ( pretty common when you go down memory lane) anyway I’m pretty darn sure I remember your New Century truck. and or others being parked by the IHOP and hotel in Brighton ? The first several years at Yarde (07-12 ) I would pass by there going from Allston/Brighton to Watertown.
@TheBostonTrucker3 күн бұрын
That was me! I lived on the otherside of the Pike on Riverview Rd and would leave my truck at IHOP, I could walk there.

You can still find good conversation in the the truck stop. Sit up at the lunch counter and just interact. The Audio book library was great in the TA’s back in the day. You picked up a book on tape listened to it and dropped it in at another TA wherever and got another book there. ELD’s are just another part of trucking , another pain in the ass forced on us but you can bitch or make it work for you. The Mega carriers have really created a bunch of steering wheel holders with micro managers instructing them in every aspect of their day. Where to park, how many gallons to put in here or there. I had a Qualcomm when I started with Millis Transfer in 98’ . It was a tool , a guide so to speak but your day to day running was left up to you. When you had to do some sketchy stuff you disconnected the pod at the back of the sleeper. They knew what you were doing but many of the office staff were ex drivers and knew the score. Again it’s just different times and time waits for no man. Enjoy your Thanksgiving when you get to it.

I think there’s a few issues people or society, technology, corporate greed driving government regulation. But I also think big companies make it attractive to people who see themselves forced to get into driving not necessarily wanting or proud of the profession. More than one time I have refused to tow a truck because there was human feces covering everything from the sleeper back.

I like your humor, making light of plastic trucks is not making fun of a driver, too many thought and speach cry babies. Yes, Werner is the reason for the ELD, they were having to many accidents, I believe the govt was going to shut them down so they came up with the eld.
