BACKGROUND It all started at the 2016 VGMAs. Sarkodie picked up Rapper of the Year, a category many thought either EL or Omar Sterling will win that year. The award was presented by Da Hammer (Last Two). Presenting the award he said ‘and the award goes to Tema’. Many thought it was Omar Sterling but surprisingly it was Sarkodie. EL won in another category after that and was open about his disappointment and surprise about Sarkodie bagging that category during his speech. He felt if it wasn’t him, it should have been Omar Sterling. To him and many, Sarkodie wasn’t a competition that said year. EL was crowned AOTY. Few weeks after the VGMA, on July 26th, Sarkodie released Bossy (diss) addressing the issues that arose after his win. His first lines were “Mern am stressed out / They talk bout rappers and am left out/ How?”. He dropped a couple of lines aimed at EL like “I'm a king but I dont feel I gotta wear crown / That was a clear sound” [Ref: EL - KWAC]. “Yeah them be best cause they write from the heart / B.I.G, Jay Z to Nas / Is all about the emotions bro fuck the bars/“ [Ref: EL - Bar 1-6]. etc There were other stray bullet to the entire Ghana MCs too. Some were to people who criticize him for his bars. Example “ɔmose Sarkodie ndrope punches / I can do it really but the point is / Wo rape na wo punche pii a joo you sound immature / You gotta spit from your heart no be your jaw” “All of these ntɔtɔfeefee rappers no cant touch me” “ɔmote me nwom repeati flows so what you talking bout / Wotaa kasa pii a wobɛgye blow obi mmɔɔ woda?” etc At the end of the song he dropped a line that sounded like he’s appeasing M.anifest although some of the bars were aimed at the entire Ghana rap sect. Something like giving him props like he’s the only one who’s up there with him but in a more creative way. He asked for M’s dot to end his song. He rapped “Uh, M.anifest mesrɛ wo lemme just / Use your dot dot dot to dot to end this verse.” Over the years Sarkodie has been subbing Ghana rappers and none replied or stood up to him. But this time around it was different. Maybe he bit more than he can chew by giving M.anifest that props. Sark definitely did it out of good will. But M.dot didn’t take it lightly. Four day after Bossy, on the 30th June, M.anifest released god MC (diss). Drawing the lines it was aimed directly at Sarkodie although there were some stray bullets. I wouldn’t go into some of the bars dropped at him and the references but at the end of the song he name dropped Sarkodie returning his favor. He was basically telling Sarkodie he can use the dots but he went for his neck using his own monicker; “My guy obidi, let me return the favor / You know what time it is, later is greater”. After that line, nobody had to tell you he came for Sarkodie although it was obvious throughout the entire record. This caused a stir up in the country with people taking sides. Every entrainment show on radio and TV was talking about it. There was this pressure mounted on Sarkodie to reply M.anifest. This pressure was from the media, his fanbase and even people who supported his opponent. On July 3rd, he released Kanta (diss) aimed at M.anifest. We all know who won. They’ve settled their differences but the facts still stand that one won.

The whole BEEF started when Sarkodie dropped "Bossy (ft. Jayso)". Sark fired shots at EL with the opening verse and ended with a shot at Manifest. EL had won the Best Rapper in 2015 and Artiste of the year 2016 which people felt both awards should have gone to Sark.
