The trouble I have when braiding my own hair for crochet braids is that the starting point for my braids (my edges) always seems to slide back! Like I don't know how to position my fingers or something so that the braid is sturdy enough for the crochet at the roots of my scalp. Every time I watch this video it seems like I'm doing the same thing you're doing BUT for some reason my cornrow braids always seem loose at the root and tighter in the middle and thick at the end!

Same issues. We just need to get better at cornrows by practicing ig😂. I use weave so my cornrows will be sturdier.

See my problem is that I watched multiple videos of women saying uh, yeah, so this took me about two hours, and I tried to build Rome in one day as well (sigh)…live, and learn. The deep conditioning, oiling my scalp, and securely braiding is phase one. The 3spilt crochet is phase two (for me from now on anyway.

I do bantu knots to stretch my hair! I do them while my hair is wet, then take them down when my hair is dry.
