Please subscribe?? Watch how I made these awesome butterflies in this time lapse video containing 40+GB of HD footage, where I constructed and reduced a polymer clay butterfly wing cane. This video is a visual guide for making these for those of you who wish to make some for yourself. Polymer clay is a oven bake clay that never dries out and hardens when you bake it. You can then sand, tool, drill, and polish it after its baked. It comes in many colors and brand, all which can be mixed together.
I've been thinking about the butterfly cane for some time now and always thought it to be a real challenging thing to do.. turns out it was not so bad! For a first try, I think these butterflies turned out awesome! How about you?
Please like this video it would mean so much to me.. and maybe share it too? It took me almost 5 days to edit this video lol, but well worth it as I think this is one of my best videos yet... It would be so awesome if my very awesome friends on Facebook and Google+ helped me out by sharing this video with their awesome friends too?

The colour graduation effect and contrast with the black gives a totally gorgeous Tiffany glass effect. Thank you Tom for making this brilliant tutorial. I adore butterflies and am looking forward to trying this technique (with some trepidation) and making lovely jewellery pieces... fingers crossed. I will be watching all your other tutorials as you are a very talented artist and teacher with great ideas. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge.

Along with this being an awesome video (pause button and the "slow down" feature on all youtube videos aid in getting a better understanding of the process he went through), what I LOVED is how HONEST you were about how when you get to a certain point in cane making, one panics....no matter how experienced you are. The reducing part in particular....I love that you verbalized that. Cane making is never the exact same process twice, it requires flexibility, patience, the ability to keep in mind the end result and the willingness to risk doing things that MAY not work in the end. But when it does......ohhhhh YES! Thank you for this video!

I really enjoy working with polymer clay and recently I was baking cookies in tubes and wondered if the cane application would work for cookie dough so I used this video to make butterfly wing cookies I made a whole tube I can freeze and bake whenever I want. They actually turned out really pretty just butter cookie dough slightly modified and food dye. Thanks for this tutorial!!!

Your editing technique is REALLY appreciated, for my students who, like me, that think, or want to, in 3D. Of course, wanting more butterflies in the world is a goal we share.....THANKS!!!!

I work with Polymer Clay and have an Etsy shop myself and often need these tutorials to learn new thins. But I must say out of all the tutorial videos out there, ya know the fancy dancy ones, I absolutely love yours. I love the fact that you leave in the small bits of knowledge and explain everything that you're doing. I had no idea what a "Skinner blend" was and I've worked with Polymer Clay for several months now >.> I know there is so much more to learn with this medium as well as many others. Thank you sir! :D
