I have hunted ladder stands many a years on private. Used to have a lease many years back and like you we make a lot of our gear, I still have a couple of those stands I welded up, they are heavy made out of pipe, but they will out last me, hahaha and they are 20 years old or older at this point. Thanks for sharing this video with us, nice to see you using other options for hunting. It is part of hunting. Man she bolted. Thanks for sharing this with us, we learn best from mistakes and all too often folks wont share the mistakes they made, so thank you for taking the time to share this and know it is appreciated. Congrats on your harvest and good luck the rest of this season. Dale

Glad you found her. Definitely happens to us all in bow hunting and anyone that says it doesn’t is either lying or hasn’t been doing it very long. Thanks for bringing us along. Love your videos

Hunting is hard! Can’t believe you let it down, then adjusted your camera…and still got the doe!
@TheBudgetSportsman12 күн бұрын
I let it down because I expected her to keep walking but she only took one step and ended with her vitals behind the tree. I let down and then came back to full draw when she started walking again, I actually adjusted the camera while I was at full draw the second time 😂

Glad you found her. This situation has definitely been prevalent this year with people I know. Thanks for sharing your experience

I’m glad you found her and that your season is turning around. I found the reason for my misses as well, or atleast I think. After my third time with arrows going high, I checked on target and I was 10” high at 30 yards. The only change otherwise was I bought a new set of nocturnals specifically for my hunting arrows off Amazon without ever grouping them (I grouped with older my target arrows). The only thing I can come up with is maybe they’re really good knock offs because my other arrows group perfect. Lessons were learned and I should’ve been practicing during the season. I’m going to blame the Amazon purchase on Nate selfishly enjoying his hunting season while preventing me from buying my nocks from him.

Glad you found the problem and yeah, I would say let’s just blame Nate 😂 In all seriousness he hooked me with some new broadheads on his day off after my buck miss and I was looking for a change.

This is why I have been using the whisker biscuit for over twenty years when bow hunting. It never moves from it's set position. And the arrow is always secure.

I’m glad it’s been good for you, but I don’t believe this issue has anything to do with brand or style of rest.

I'm happy you were able to recover the deer and fiqure out what the problems were. You mentioned an ebike in the video. What kind is it? If you have done a video on the ebike, i missed it. Thanks for the video.

this is my 3rd season, and i know this is bound to happen to me sooner or later. I've heard about how you have to avoid the guts when field dressing your deer, as it can ruin the meat. will this affect the meat in th same way?
@TheBudgetSportsman11 күн бұрын
I thought I responded to this before, but don't see my reply. I would be hesitant about any meat that came in contact with open guts. However, most of the meat on a deer is outside the body cavity (the four legs and backstraps.) If you are careful with the field dressing process, you should still be able to get a lot of good meat off the deer. I would be hesitant of any meat inside the body cavity, like the inner tenderloin.

Question (not about the video), what are some practical tips to introduce young children to bow hunting?
@TheBudgetSportsman12 күн бұрын
That's a great question that I am not sure I am qualified to answer. I have taken my daughter hunting for the last several years since she was 2 and took my son hunting for the first time this year (who is currently 2.) I have discovered that getting them started at that age with bow hunting is difficult. At a young age they have a hard time with sitting still and being quiet. Combining that with bowhunting, where the game needs to be close, is a challenge. I have chosen instead to involve my kids in Pennsylvania's October muzzleloader season, where I have a longer effective range but the weather is still good. If we get good weather during rifle season I may take them out for that as well. As they get a little older, I will likely include them in archery season as well. While not bow hunting specific, here are things that I think have been key to enjoyable hunts with my kids. 1. Sitting in a blind that will help hide their movements. 2. Taking them on good weather days when it is easy to keep them warm 3. Let them bring plenty of clothes and even blankets 4. Let them bring snacks and drinks (being careful of packaging and sound) 5. Let them bring something to keep them occupied. For my kids that's books and usually I read to them. 6. I try to keep the hunts short. Maybe an hour or two at the end of the day when deer are most likely to move. 7. Manage my personal expectations. Of course I want to kill a deer, but giving them a positive experience should come first. If I get frustrated because they are not sitting still or being quiet, it doesn't make for an enjoyable experience for anyone. Training is necessary, just remember their age. 8. I make sure they have adequate hearing protection for hunting with a firearm. If you want more information, I would suggest reaching out to Nate at Average Jack Archery. He has two young girls who he is getting into shooting bows (though not hunting yet.) I would also suggest talking to Derek Craig from New Day Outdoors on KZbin. His two girls are grown, but it seems he has had some great years of bow hunting with his kids.

That’s such a bad shot it’s unbelievable. You need to practice way more before you hit the woods again. Shameful……
