Not a plumber, but... Where does it say that? It's an air admittance valve. Under the NY 2020 codes 917.6 "The dry vent extensions for the additional venting shall connect to a branch vent, vent stack, stack vent, air admittance valve, or shall terminate outdoors. The main issue with this installation is that it wouldn't pass code for most places, including NY. If you look under 918.4 Location... it's supposed to be at least 4 inches above the horizontal branch drain, and also at least 6 inches above the flood level rim of the highest fixture being vented. So the top of the sink it needs to be 6 inches above that. So to do it properly, you'd need to open up the wall and run the vent into the wall at least 6 inches higher than the rim of the sink. If the wall is also insulated, it needs to be 6 inches above the insulation. It needs to have air to work properly. The reason for this is... if the sink overfills, it will push water into the vent and can leak out. 918.8 Prohibited installations... For example for a sump or tank that wasn't designed by an engineer. I could be missing something though, if so, please inform.

What is that drain type connecting to the strainer piece? I took one out of my girlfriends cousin because it wasn't attached to the base of the sink anymore. I thought someone had glued the gasket to the basin which held it up...

Double p-traps are not code in Wisconsin as flow from one can create a siphon and drain one of the p-trap in the other branch. One is better. Please show code that says to do it with 2?
