৫ আগস্টের ঐতিহাসিক সেই দিনে, শেখ হাসিনা দেশ ছাড়ার পর বিকেলে হাজার হাজার জনতা গণভবনে ঢুকে পড়ে। তখন প্রাণরক্ষার জন্য পালাতে মাত্র ৫ মিনিট সময় পান এসএসএফ সদস্যরা। এ সময় অস্ত্র, গোলাবারুদসহ অন্যান্য সরঞ্জাম মজুদ ছিল সেখানে। যেগুলোর অধিকাংশই ফেলে পালিয়ে কোনো রকমে প্রাণ বাঁচান তারা।
