He is wrong, only 9%, anyone can make, don't need a manager. Asset manager should try to make above 20% yoy, otherwise it hard to compete.

If you are capable of generating 9-12% you don't need to invest through mutual fund or fund manager. Mutual Funds or fund managers are need for those who fail to make any profit from stock market and lose his/her money frequently .
