Massive lover of this podcast. I’m a huge Super League and NRL fan. I’m also a Yank and was in Vegas. I live in LA area and you see the occasional celebrity which I don’t give 2 shits about. Yet, when I saw Jammer at the bar on Fremont I beelined over there. I think he was a bit surprised to hear my accent. He did tell me he doesn’t read the comments. He was in an area with a lot of the NRL greats and was a bit loose after a few pints. Love ya Jammer. I’d say there were about 10-15% English fans. Allegiant stadium won’t know what hit it when they start belting out the chants. I urge everyone to go. I won’t miss this weekend again as long as I live.

Targeting players' weaknesses, it happens in social sports too. I used to play in a cricket comp where "differently abled" people were involved (to put it as nicely as possible). One game we played against such a player - who'd played a lot of games for their club and was playing on merit - but his batting was poor. We were defending a score in a 35 over game and manipulated it so the DA player was on strike as much as possible and the run rate escalated. It worked because we won the game. While we didn't target the player with intimidatory bowling, we used his poor batting to our advantage. And as a number 11 batter myself, I've lost count of the times fast bowlers have bounced me or tried to intimidate me and exploit my batting weaknesses.

Just regarding the Championship injury targeting, I think the issue was the coaches were shouting it from the sidelines i dont know wether this goes on in higher levels but it was heard by Widnes fans at the game. Also Widnes are a part time club so Rugby is not this player’s primary source of income and the injury has prevented him working the job that brings in a big chunk of his income. I get what James is saying but I don’t think it’s quite the same at lower levels for that reason as they don’t get paid for being injured

Bit of a jump the gun question in the world of rugby league and Union BUT… What if under Joe Schmidt the wallabies are able to win the Bledislode Cup and potentially defeat the British & Irish Lions and usher in a new era for rugby? Do you think that rugby league and AFL could lose all that talent that comes from the Schoolboys system and therefore rendering the other two codes back to when it was the 90’s as a result of the draw to the Union stage and glory associated?
