That's such a beautiful area. The eruption photos were incredible too. I know if I'm ever near an erupting volcano, I'm not getting a good shot of it as I get out of the area as fast as I can!
@CactusAtlas9 ай бұрын
No joke. I'm not a volcanologist and wouldn't have a clue which way anything is going. I'm running like Forrest Gump far, far away from that thing. 🤣

Thank you Glen for taking us on your adventure through this beautiful park. I haven't had the blessing of a vacation in 3 years. Your videos are a way to escape the current stress and in a way, have vacation. Thank you so much. What you do matters. Blessing to you.
@CactusAtlas9 ай бұрын
no vacation in 3 years? Hopefully it's not due to a job that pins you down and keeps you stressed! Been there and done that. Never again. But, at the least, if we can fill a void for you, we are honored to do so! Thanks for the kind comment, and hoping you can lose some of that stress.

Hello Glenn. Thank you for sharing this video. The scenic drive was so beautiful. The photos of the past eruptions were scary but amazing. Looking forward to more of your videos! Thanks Glenn and Amy 😊

You are very welcome! I can't even imagine going about your day in nearby towns, hearing a rumble, looking off and seeing that eruption back in the day. Wild stuff.

This video is beautiful. Glenn, you, and Amy do a fantastic job together. Hope you both enjoyed your little Arizona snow yesterday. It was always exciting when I lived down there and it snowed. Everything is beautiful on the surrounding mountains and the Saguaros. We have had enough snow here in Colorado. I have hopes to get down there before the heat starts. Thanks again for this beautiful video.

Thank you! No snow down here in the Phoenix valley, but saw lots of footage on the news of snow up in Flagstaff and such. Itching to go north and see it but we've been hitting work here pretty hard lately. I can say that I appreciated the cloud cover and rain we got here though. The plants loved it. 😊

I cannot express how much I loved this! Everything about it was just stunning, including your amazing reactions and narration! I always love your vids.......and I am an old "Desert Rat", so all your vids in the desert are special! But THIS! 🤯 I haven't been to a place like this since my last trip to Rocky Mountain National Park (and area), and that was in 1983. I literally nearly choked when I typed that! It's been 40 YEARS! This is one I will come back to, Glenn! Thank you so much!

I also can't tell you how many times I EXCLAIM outloud (mostly OMG!!!) when watching your vids. I haven't seen so much astonishing beauty in one video for a while! Everything!!! And, oh.......that lily pond! HUGE "OMG"! Stunning......almost "unreal", it's so beautiful! So glad you got to see it.....and everything!❣

Thank you so much! Visiting Northern Cali made me want to move there, although I'm sure I'll receive much hate for saying that unfortunately... One of those places that instantly clicked with me.

Wow! And the clarity of the video is wonderful! I put a black carpet/dash cover to reduce interior reflection on my travels.
@CactusAtlas9 ай бұрын
Oh that is a GREAT idea. I wish we had thought of that when we had that Acadia because it was super reflective. A lot more than our truck. Might think on that for Slim though to help with filming. Thanks for the suggestion! 😄👍

What a beautiful park! I’m so glad you stopped at that meadow with the stream running through. I could spend hours there. Especially if I had it to myself as you did.

It would be VERY easy to spend an afternoon taking in the views of that meadow. 😄

OMG!!! such a beautiful park. I know it must be extremely difficult NOT to spend weeks exploring every nook and cranny in some of the places you go. Looking forward to seeing this park myself some day.

Yeaaaah, just one of the downfalls of traveling and making videos - always have to think about making the most of the time in terms of videos and never really getting a lot of time in one specific place. BUT! On the other hand, it makes for nice scouting and knowing what to hit on future trips. 😅

If I am repeating information from other commenters, so be it. That weird looking thing on that tree is a burl. When cut off a harvested tree, or a fallen tree, and then sliced, you get to see some seriously gorgeous grain. My grandpa got a hold of some YEARS ago, and made coffee tables out of them. Excellent as ever on the info and captured scenery on your adventure. Thanks!

That lump on the tree is called a burl. Highly prized by woodworkers.

This is an area I am planning on visiting in September of 2025, so I am excited for your current series. You did Lassen in the middle of the week, correct? Is this typical weather for the month? What were the temps if you remember. I am looking at Lassen, Lava Beds, Tule Lake Petroglyphs, Crater Lake, Waterfalls near Crater Lake, Oregon Caves, and finally Redwoods. Any suggested adds? I was thinking 10-14 days, part of which would be spent in San Fran. Love your videos!
@CactusAtlas9 ай бұрын
Yup! You're correct. Glenn was in the park early to mid-week in early-ish September. Couldn't tell you if the weather was typical. Looking at some websites it looks like Sept is a pretty decent month temperature wise. Like pleasant t-shirt type weather. As for add ons.... DANG. I think you have one heck of a trip planned there. Hitting things up that we still haven't had time to (like the Redwoods. JEALOUS!). Looks like you're staying more to the west side of California? Our trip took us more towards Tahoe and Mammoth Lakes which are also really amazing (videos on those coming) so not sure if you're interested in those or have the budget in your schedule to visit.

I am hoping to comeback to San Francisco in September of 2026 and head off to Yosemite, Kings Canyon, & Sequoia. It is either this set or fly into Denver and hit Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, Custer State park, Wind Cave, and Rocky Mountains NP.

The knob in a tree is called a burr. It is highly prized and destroys trees when removed sometimes . The burr iss used the lathe bowls. It popular in teak wood or that wood that grows in oregon called uummm..I will research the name myrtle wood I guessed. Then there handbooks with bird fauna and trees by Audubon society

Thanks for the info! Curious to look up works of burl wood now. 😄

Madrone wood is prized. Manzanita you can est. Jojoba edible. Try saghuros fruit. Try cupping creosote in your hands blowing some moisture and smell it.. desert lavender. Chew brittle bush it is native analgesic. Weird nym feeling. More books to browse and reference. Birding is hard for me. Tho I like ro know what I see not only see but can describe . The migration patterns. Most birds migrate to south America and return

You keep saying "Pine trees". While there may be some Pines, most here in your video are various Fir trees. Most we're seeing in this video are Douglas and Shasta Fir. 🙂
