I can see in the future a card that says: "If the first effect of this card is negated, you can activate this effect" and then after card succes that line will become the next "You can only activate [Card's Name] effect once per turn" because we are getting into a state of the game where a duel is decided by what cards you drew on your initial hand and not what you do with them because you will allways do the same... one... two... three as many times as you duel

I'm running a minimum of 12 hand traps, I been playing yugioh for 20 years and just had to embrace playing more and more hand traps. It's easier to do that these days with all of the 1 card combos that are around.

Handtraps aren't fading out, you can't just imperm or veiler one card and expect it to be a turn ender. Niburu, ash, droll, lancea, mulcharmies etc. are all still really good.

@@vampireguy92 Handtraps are a necessary evil, you don't want to go up against 90% of yugioh decks with 1 of each hand trap. It will just be ftk central and board breakers will just take the place of handtraps. Only change will be you get to play solitare for 20 minutes.

My biggest problem is that we are finally seeing a changing or the guard on handtraps its what every yugioh boomer who raised a flag about power creep was warning about. And cards dodging handtraps to power creep them isnt even new its just more pronounced now. Circular came first and then we gave a lot of decks their own circular. Just recently sinful spoils cards were set to the field to dodge anti searching effects. While i know they are a necessary evil in the current way the game isnt that doesn't make it mutually exclusive to saying that you are treating yourseld with poison. They force the speed of the game ahead to facilitate them and eventually the very cards that were supposed to keep things in check become irrelevant. All the while you make new players join the game that functions at vintage speeds comparable to mtg (gebout as expensive too, least to the "cheap" decks. I dont even hate high power yugioh, i hate that there isnt a low power option that isnt time wizard because that isnt a evolving format its just what the banlist was at x day. At this point im honestly more excited for Early Days next month than the tcg. And even thats a let down cause of no Forbidden Memories or Duelist of the Roses.

Primite Lordly Lode was a $4 secret rare. My advice for expensive is keep an eye out for future releases and get cards early. Then, if you're priced out, wait for reprints and play with something else. I didn't get most of my staples until RAO1 and RA02.

I mean it’s the only logical solution. Fool your opponent into using their hand traps and out engine the handtraps by having as many options as possible. The more one card combos and small effective engines are printed the more you’ll see this trend.

I think one of the biggest problems with the meta decks is that they aren't inherently ultra oppressive at face value, but the recursion game is ridiculous for decks like fiendsmith, crystron and mitsurugi. A lot of the interruptions as you said aren't omni negates which is a good thing (except ame no murakumo, hand rip rageki omni netate with self recursion is beyond insane), but if you don't kill the fiendsmith player they already shuffled in their materials and can go full combo again.

Both with their respective Charmers and how they enable Bystials. Part of what made Snake eyes and Tempai so oppressive, besides their other issues, is that being FIRE monsters removed a lot of common answers to Graveyard recursion.

If konami wants to continue, yugioh, then they need to do a decent banlist, focus on not making bull spit cards, and errata a lot of the cards that are ruining the game, hand traps need to be managed better as 99% of available cards are unplayable at the moment due to the meta sheep and power creeping. I used to look forward to playing yugioh. It was my escape. Now I just focus on it a collector and hope that I can see meaningful archetypes made like a possible chaos emperor dragon archetype or five headed dragon archetype, or support for moja, x saber, digital bugs, bounzer, xyz explosion bugs, pumpkin/zombies etc. I like this channel because this guy knows how bad one card starters and handtraps are ruining everything.

i feel like the format is overall fine... i mean yeah having multiple engines is kind of crazy but even fiendsmith ryzeal has a choke point in duo drive. duo hardly ever resolves so even if you save your ash for duo and let the opponent make a high king high king isn't all that great. ex dump aggregator outs it and if the opponent didnt have follow up for a negated duo drive they are as i say on my channel, crapping all over the venue floor at that point lmao. so i feel like it more than anything comes down to proper deck building. i firmly believe for this format more than many others we have had in recent times, comes down to deck building if you build your deck properly you will see success.

6:07 they did that deliberately BECAUSE of how competitively viable they are...the majority of money they get from thier product are poeple who play competitively so they know that the more sought after a card is,the more justifcation there is in making it expensive. its for that same reason why each format konami usually releases 1 or 2 archtypes that will completly curb stomp just about everything else. and if competitve players didint have such a drive to be as toxic as possible resort to using a tier 0 deck that they didint even come up with themselves just so they can win with little to no actual effort ...then this wouldnt be an issue and the game would not be the unbalanced mess that it is now. i think konami has just recently realized that this is a problem for the longevity and stability of the game because they have started to give more and more legacy support to existing decks to shrink the power gap between them and meta....and THAT is how the game can be fixed. the problem isnt just that powerful meta decks exist...the problem is the mannor of which they are given where only THEY get the good support and everyhting else gets and after thought...if konami focuses more on making other existing decks more relivent then that will significantly widen the meta formant. and with a more even playing field that will make it so no individual player could possibly have an "all oposition covered" answer because of all the new variables to take into account...this will mean we wont have 1 or 2 decks steam rolling everything else. the game will become more diverse and poeple will have more fun,be it competively or casually...and that will help the stability of the game's future. because even if poeple are only "in it to win it" the fact that gives konami alot of money isnt always going to be enough....and they arent doing themselves any favors by making the game so un-fun that a large portion of poeple quite the game entirely. i know this post was long but i honestly think it stands as something that needs to be said about the state of the game and its future.

I love your videos and content, but I think YU-GI-OH is on the merge of collapse atleast considering the TCG, you have an elite playing the game at events yes, but the absurd meta is kinda making all casuals quit the game. Atleast what I can tell from multiple local scenes around france/germany and luxemburg is, lots have switched to Pokemon/Magic and One Piece TCG. Konami has huge issues and people dont want to spend 300 + every 2 months too keep up with other decks and then see their cards 4-6months later getting reprinted or loosing value to nothing. Those gas on gas on gas deck also has no answer to floodgates.. the only answer they have is to cry, point "skill issue" to stun players, and request to ban the floodgate.. and since konami gets income from those combo players who use expensive cards, they are favored by konami and bans the floodgate.. because who gonna buy new cards if they can be beaten by old cards? Hence the favor/bias to the combo players..

I'm a Hero guy, I love what Supreme Darkness has given me. But I still absolutely despise the meta so much right now because I feel like *everyone* is playing the same god damn archetype combos. My shop that I go to is the only one I have seen where *every* duelist has a different archetype. One guy is Kashtira Fiendsmith, another still usin' Tenpais, Blue Eyes deck is also being used, me being the Hero guy, Azamina white Forest, Ryzeals, Mallis, Gladiator Beasts, Six Samurai. We literally keep this store to ourselves to keep the diversity of archetypes cuz when we go to other shops, it's the same fucking repeats
