Season 3(probably) This all might be test of GI-HUN by Front man. Gi-hun might be chosen to be next FRONT MAN... Which is the exact way he was chosen by previous one. However gi-hun will end this (with FRONT MANS brother) blood bath by killing/destroying the games funder (basically the island and VIPs) so that no one can participate. The front man is trying to break GI-HUN into believing that no good can be earned without sacrifice, in this case dying of others for you !

One detail i noticed is the order of the games were like on that on purpose to create maximum chaos. The Pentathalon game made the players bond in groups of 5, making it harder for the groups to divide in Mingle. Making betraying each other inevitable

I also noticed an important detail - during the first vote, after some participants interrupted, the masked men warned that if anyone interfered with the voting again, there would be consequences. Later, when player 456 was preparing to convince the others to vote for leaving, player 1 noticed his intentions. Anticipating that 456 might interrupt and put himself at risk, player 1 deliberately interrupted first. He knew the masked men wouldn’t harm him, effectively protecting 456 from potential danger.

I actually did a ridiculous amount of research and thought about this, and even with the large amount of islands, it still makes no sense that they wouldn't have found the island, except for the fact that the boatman was deliberately working against Jun-ho. Some things to consider: 1. The majority of islands around SK are in clusters, around 10-15 to be exact, that is, a bunch of islands all bunched around each other. Think like Indonesia but on a much smaller scale. So, you could feasibly scout multiple islands in a single trip. This is doubly important because of point #4 2. Jun Ho was undercover for several months to a year in season 1 -- yes he was largely inside the facility the whole time, but you would imagine when he first arrived, when he was making his escape, etc. that he would've gotten a good idea for what the island looked like, terrain wise. 3. We know that the facility is pretty large in size, and features multiple different wings/buildings connected to the main facility. So, really tiny islands can be outright eliminated. 4. We know that Jun Ho was found on a buoy, meaning that even if the island itself isn't inhabited, it can't be too far from one that is. Yes, the boatman points out that he could've been carried some distance away from the island, but if we're considering how far he and the buoy could've been carried and him still be alive, it can't have been that far. So that can help narrow the area as well.* So, with all of this being considered, and given the fact that they were searching at the bare minimum once a week for 2 years straight (so 104 searches), the odds that they never found the island is astronomically low. Even if you ignore the parts about the buoy, his knowledge of the terrain, and the general size of the island, doing random searches once a week for two years still gives some pretty good odds to find the island. But, considering they almost certainly searched multiple times a week, or maybe even skipped some weeks, you can give about a 10% (honestly random number) margin of error on either end. However, if they had a system in place and used logical parameters to narrow down the search (and hell, when they find the booby trapped island Jun Ho even says "I remember it being around this area), it's far more unlikely they WOULDN'T have found the island. *I'm realizing after the fact that the boatman could've lied to Jun Ho about finding him on a buoy, which would certainly make sense. Still, the other parameters alone give you plenty of ways to narrow the search.

Unless his brother put him on a buoy just until the boatman found him. Otherwise, the boatman must've lied to hide the fact that his brother (the front man) got him to save Jun-Ho, while also ensuring he never discovers the island again. I mean, shooting him in the shoulder was a clear indication that his intent was not to kill him. Shooting him off the cliff and hiring the boatman to mislead him solidified that he still cares about him, but does not want him involved in the games whatsoever or potentially jeopardizing the ability to continue doing the games. Or another theory, the front man knew the guards would kill Jun Ho when they discovered he was an imposter, so he shot him in the shoulder first to at least give him a chance at survival. He probably didn't want to shoot him at all, but had to withhold his duty as the front man and eliminate the imposter. Even in the scene the front man looks devestated to have not only betrayed his brother by showing he's the head of the games, but also by needing to shoot him, just to give him a chance to live. Just further proves that the boatman was hired to at the very least go find Jun Ho after his fall from the cliff, and luckily he survived.

​​@@jogabogithe island can actually be found rather easily because it's so large. We know it's an island off the coast of Incheon, which limits to a roughly 70km search radius. There's about 150-200 islands. But of those only about 40 are large enough. But most of these are inhabited, that leaves about 15 that are as large as jun-ho would have remembered but not inhabited. If he remembered anything distinctive about the island such as shape he could probably find it in a few searches.

Here is one from me. The main characters were last in the game with the legs tied, because if they didn't succeed, the guards can kill everyone but the front man with no witnesses. Also I think the front man said this to the mother in order to show Gi-hun how the people he is fighting for get corrupted, they can even abandon their own mothers.

I don't see the frontman participating in the game as a problem, it makes it even more thrilling for me, because we don't know exactly when or how he will betray Gi-hun, we just know that it can happen any second. It somehow doesn't cross Gi-huns mind that player 001 could actually be one of the enemies, despite the fact that Il-nam was player 001 in Gi-huns first game. It makes me wanna scream at the screen "it's him!" the whole time and I'm also surprised that the frontman chose to be player 001 because I find it a bit too obvious.

I think there were a few times he had an instinctual suspicion that he dismissed…when FrontMan said his name “Il-Nam” it’s close to “Young-Il” from the first game and he had a surprised look. When his best friend started to warn him about him murdering someone in mingle…sure he wasn’t able to get the sentence out, but I think it piqued Gi-hun’s senses, because then in the coup he chose to bring his friend and hesitated to have Il-Nam by his side. Of course, he kept dismissing his gut and you saw it when he gave Il-Nam the extra ammo.

Another thing is that there is a parallel between the bread and lottery ticket game the recruiter was holding and the updated rules of the squid game. Any of the homeless people could’ve taken the safer option of the bread and been better off than they were before, but took the lottery ticket for an extremely small chance at winning big. This is similar to how the survivors in the squid game act during season 2. Instead of taking the bread (in this case the smaller cut of the prize pool) many of them continue to play more games in hopes of winning big

small detail I noticed in episode 7 is when gi-hun wants to sacrifice team x so they can get the guns from the guards. 001 initially wants team X to attack team O first but gi-hun declined on that plan. 001 Looked him in the eye and asks him “so you want to sacrifice someone for your goal?”. This is a bit ironic coming from gi-hun since this is the whole point of squid game and the main perspective of 001 as front man. To get better or bigger price pool you need to kill others.

I think the predictability works well for season 2. Knowing what will happen adds to the tension and tragedy so much. There was no way that they were going to completely trick people this go round after the first huge twist in season 1, so I like that they didn’t even try. The suspense is knowing that the bomb is in the room but not knowing exactly when it will go off.

I think it works really well for season 2 too because it echoes exactly what the Frontman is trying to show Gi-hun. The writers know that the audience is going to root for the good guys and want everyone to survive and that we're going to be crushed when our favourites die. Add in the fact we already know the truth about the Frontman and know he's going to betray them at some point and it adds to that even more because it makes us build up so much hope for the good guys to succeed despite the fact we know in the back of our minds it's not going to end well. People don't change, people will still fight and kill and turn their backs on friends the second enough money is in it for them and that's exactly what the Frontman is trying to show Gi-hun. It doesn't matter how much you root for the good guys, humanity will always follow the same pattern and the games will still continue and it makes the show predictable yes but it proves the Frontman's exact point.

S2 is meant to slowly unravel mysteries of the inner workings of their world, focus on social dynamics, and just fill the viewer with more sense of dread since the deaths don't feel as "exciting" (typing that last part made me feel weird)

I noticed it to, and if you think about it, the players in Season 2 are worse than in Season 1. In Season 1, their desire to continue is somewhat understandable because they would receive nothing if they voted to quit. All the other deaths would have been for nothing if they quit. But in Season 2, they wanted to play more to get a bigger amount despite the guranteed money they would get if they voted to quit.

That's been front mans entire motive. I think he has some element of curiosity to him about Gi Hun; trying to understand why, when having being given more money he could ever need and (from front man's point of view) owing the other participants nothing, Gi Hun continues on his quest to bring the games down when he could just walk away and live an easy life. Front man had the same opportunity, instead he went the other direction of Gi Hun, even to the point of joining it. I think front man quite genuinely was interested to follow along with Gi Hun to see where it would go. When Gi Hun suggested that people would die in the attack but it would be for the greater good, front man after confirming with Gi Hun that he understood people would indeed die, seemed to contemplate that for a moment before agreeing. I think in his mind, this was his reassurance that he'd made the right decision and that Gi Hun was the one who was wrong to come back. Between the nature of the contestants who would vote to stay, or screw over others to ensure they won to sacrificing others for the greater good, it has been front man's vindication.

That's kind of the whole point of the show though. It proves the fact that when people are desperate enough they will do almost anything for money. Some will kill people, some will keep playing knowing others will die, and some will even sacrifice themselves when they know they have no other way out. A lot of people changed from O to X and X to O between the voting because their mindset changed when enough money was on the line or when they knew how many people would have to die to get them the amount of money they'd be happy leaving with. Even in season 1 we saw it because after they voted to end the games and go home, the majority still chose to reenter the games while knowing that their lives would be on the line again.

I think it is as good as season one. Season 1 just had the advantage of being completely new. I think it was a great idea to add the element of dramatic irony where we know that player 001 is an interloper instead of attempting a similar twist. Exploring the way everyone except the rich spectators is somehow exploited by the system was the perfect progression. I can't wait to see how No-Eul's storyline develops in season 3. I also thought she was related to Sae-Byeok although I didn't know what their names meant I think Kang is the family name so it's very likely. I hope she will be reunited with her little brother or cousin or whatever the relationship is at the end

3:47 they did a bad job at showing us that he actually "betrays" her and that it's not the two people pushing him in against his will, i never see this scene that way no matter how many times i see it. Felt like the scene was drama for no reason that led to nothing. The suspense went for 3sec then BOOM his mom get saved..? Doesnt develop the son/mom characters. (they still love each other ?! such a surprise when it's neither's fault and they're both conscious of what just happened.) so what , this whole scene for the "you don't know my son! 😡" to 001 in the room of 3? Felt absolutely nothing, but i get it, one of them will sacrifice/betrays the other or whatever in season 3 and that's why we got so much "my son is good we love each other" in season 2. Sadly too obvious.

As in red light green light game you can see that the soldiers only kill players whose number is told to them. So, soldiers never know if front man is participating.

I think Il-Oh/aka the Frontman was the most interesting character this season as him and Gi-Hun have a very interesting conflict of ideology and even though we know he's ensuring Gi-Hun fails in his plan to dismantle the games from the inside by infiltrating and gaining Gi-Hun's trust as a player, I think in some deeper level Il-Ho truly respects Gi-Hun's determination and how he made difficult choices to ensure the majority of people could survive despite sacrificing other players. Even during the second game while I do believe The Frontman was trying to sabotage his team purposely but I also think he actually enjoyed watching players win the game and even enjoy the comradery and connecting to these people, maybe because he was once just like Gi-Hun but lost his humanity after the death of his wife and stillborn child, so perhaps we see how morally conflicted he becomes in Season 3 despite how cold and devoid of humanity he is on a surface level especially when he kills Jung-Bae Infront of Gi-Hun. I do wish Season 2 was a lot longer and while I do think Season 1 was slightly better, I do have to say I really loved the direction of Season 2 and I'm excited to see the final half of the Season next year

One more detail I noticed about young il was during second game time ran out before finishing yet those 4 were not killed , then in third game young il separated himself as he didn’t had to find any room and could go out of that place , he also knew pair of 2 was coming , then when young il killed that person but guards didn’t even came to check if he was alive as young il was never to be killed by guards . Also guards weren’t shooting at him in final fight .

1 minor plot hole I just realized: Couldn't Gi-hun have let the players know that they have the chance to return to the games after voting to leave like he did in season 1? If I remember correctly, they all left after the first game and some/all were invited back. That would provide some of the players an incentive to vote to end the games. Thoughts?

Not sure if its a plot hole. In s1 when voting to leave they did not take any money home. In s2 when voting to leave they would take money home. Therefore in s1 they had an incentive to come back. In s2 half of them would not come back because their debt would be paid. Not to mention the prize money Would be reset to 0 since it was split amongst everyone who left

Actually he _is_ mispronouncing the main character's name. It's pronounced *Hoon* not Hun. I've heard several KZbinrs make this mistake. Are you all watching the English dub or something, and is it pronounced wrong there? The name is pronounced Gi-Hoon. Saying this as someone who speaks and reads Korean and watches the show in Korean.

One Highly Underrated Detail is when the Salesman offers Bread and Lottery Ticket to random broke peoples on streets , most of them chooses Lottery Ticket , only to find out their bad luck and the Salesman crushes the Breads. We can exactly see the pattern of choices people make of chasing UNCERTAIN CHOICES with cheap yet great reward over a simple open OPPORTUNITY to better life. And eventually the Salesman crushes the BREADS in front of them. And during the game even though people knew that losing will end up getting them killed most of them still preferred to continue the game i.e UNCERTAIN CHOICE with a cheap great reward and they showed how people wasted an opportunity that was better than trying their luck over. We saw how people got killed in front of the survivors just the CRUSHED BREADS. PS: This game is just to clean a biological waste somewhat a concept maybe inspired from 'Blue Whale: The Suicide Challenge'
