Words can imply things. Clattering implies that what Partey does leads to Rodri's injury when it in fact had nothing to do with it

Around 38:00 That's the crux of the issue with Odegaard. You're 'keen' to see him on the other side of the pitch. Are you keen to see Martinelli or Saka or Merino on the other side of the pitch ? Nope. Because they're maximized where they are. Odegaard isn't. Neither is Saka when Odegaard's there. Just looking at the tactics board I can see flashbacks of all the through passes from Odegaard that go 'just a little wide' to where Saka wants it. That's not maximizing.

@@Never_Wr0ng you missed the point intelligent winger and strikers create space for themselves despite double or triple marking while the average always appear helpless when marked..saka always takes a touch stoops on the ball and allows his markers to get close and basically stops him from creating. I was responding to original post which says Ronaldo and Lukaku have never been marked

About the media agenda, Yes, we are not talked about as much as United or maybe other clubs- but United have actually messed up! As have Chelsea. They have messed up 100x worse than Arsenal have. We have been doing good things for the past few years. Had ONE big signing which flopped; and got slaughtered for it. In hindsight Pepe isn't even top 20 worst signing itl. Same with refereeing, STATISTICALLY we are punished more MUCH MORE severely per foul than other teams- when we probably have been one of the least 'dirty' teams in the last 5 years. While we have had Tomiyasu's face stomped on, Saka's standing leg punt kicked, Mustafi round house kicked by Vardy- all unpunished. Comical double yellows. Show me which other team gets the short end of the stick in every aspect of the game.

United are spoken about the most, Arsenal close second. Artifact of the early dominance in the Premier League era. Whatever we do good or bad will get more attention. When Wolves had all the decisions against them, the collective stance was that it was an injustice because they weren't big enough. With Arsenal you'll get detractors who know decisions are dubious but want to justify. There's rarely sympathy for the bigger guy anyway so it does showcase where we are on the pyramid.

exactly.. When chelsea were dominant with mourinho everyone started shouting style of play, theyre killing football!! so chelsea fans closed themselves off and played the bad guy. United was also the most hated team when they were dominant. Its fine honestly. We can just listen to the neutral tacteecos and other arsenal fans. I wouldnt trust a word that comes out of Neville, carragher and the like..

How Arsenal are spoken about is the issue for me. The goal posts move so much with regards to us. The two 8th finishes from Arteta are spoken of disparagingly without context as opposed to say Chelsea's 12th finish.

About the Agenda against Arsenal, I get the point that every team think that they are a victim. However what really bother me is Arsenal is somehow the first team get the weirdest yellow card, I didn't mean that other team do not get it. But they got it after Arsenal get it, NOT before Arsenal get it. This made it look like the ref want to justify giving the yellow card to Arsenal was correct. That's where it really make me feel like there are agendas.

The statement from The Athletic is not the hill to die on, you can easily concede that was wrong and still be intellectually consistent that it doesn't prove a media agenda against Arsenal specifically. Incorrect/Inaccurate journalism happens for literally everything even outside football (Amazing Wisdom I know).

Agreed. I think Alex can still construct a good argument, while simultaneously conceding the obvious, the Athletic article lied to its audience- trying to say it’s a letter of interpretation I think weakens Alex’s argument going forward

I have to say - and I do really like the channel and like you Alex - but regarding the section of the video on The Athletic article about Rodri’s injury: you were presenting nothing more than a straw man argument to Rohan; Arsenal fans were unhappy on social media with that article, generally, because it implied that Partey intentionally OR recklessly (clattered) injured Rodri. That is an absurd statement for the article to make. So after making statements during this video of “everyone overreacted” or “that’s not what they said” to then realising the article used the word CLATTERED, you began to use a straw man argument to save face: every Arsenal fan used the EXACT words of “the article said Partey injured Rodri” word for word…no they didn’t (which is quite ironic because you always emphasise on not listening to one or two people on social media to use as representation of a larger group). Then when Rohan rightly highlighted the use of the word “clattered” as disingenuous and misleading you hit him with “but does the article say he injured Rodri” over and over again…how is that the point here? Although I agree with certain points you make regarding the media bias against Arsenal-but don’t agree with your side of the debate in general-I do believe, at times, you’re being intentionally difficult and use straw man arguments to continue your “unbiased” and “level-headed” gimmick; when people - like George and Rohan - raise a valid question to you / debate you on certain points, you revert back to this quite often, in my opinion. You’re visibly trying too hard to 1) defend your point out of (potentially) stubbornness & 2) appear to be “unbiased”. At least that’s what I see.

Look fair enough, obviously I don’t agree with a lot of this but respect your opinion. I both addressed what others were saying (i.e. yes not what Rohan said, so probably where you think I’m straw manning) BUT ALSO what Rohan said directly, many times. The point I was making which I feel you’ve missed was 1) some Arsenal fans were saying that the article verbatim said “Partey injured Rodri” which is not even debatable - it’s just not what it said... and it speaks to my point about victimhood. But 2) I recognise that was not what Rohan or many are saying, so then it’s up to interpretation… and for me, while maybe poorly worded so I can see why some might feel that, I just don’t agree it implies that. That’s just subjective. And regarding “appearing” unbiased.. 99% of my content I’m with the majority of Arsenal fans, so if that’s my aim I don’t do a very good job 😅 And re stubbornness, look fine if that’s what you feel but I actually said where my opinion has changed from initially discussing this a few weeks ago. I consistently say where I think I’m wrong in my content. I said this all on the stream :) - A

@@TheCannonPod Thanks for your response, Alex. I appreciate you having your own stance on these discussions and I will always listen to what you have to say, but I just can’t agree on a couple of things (which is fine!) On your 1) point: if the only thing you were addressing in that section of the pod was the specific wording from a minority of fans, I misunderstood, but I feel it’s a fairly trivial point of discussion in the macro context, which kind of leads onto to my next point - but fair enough! On the 2) point: I’d be interested to know your implication of the word “clattered” (especially in a football context) if not what everyone else thinks it implies - even if you could infer it as the “clumsy” end of the clattered spectrum rather than “malicious” - I still feel that’s doing a severe injustice to the actual action and Partey’s involvement in it.

The reaction from a lot of people in response to Alex’s thoughts on the supposed Media agenda against Arsenal is genuinely abhorrent. A surprising number have acted horribly in response to Alex attempting to have civil conversation on a topic.

push whatever narrative you want, but football viewers have eyes and there always will be pushback against the "saka is world class" agenda unless he does something at big stage that gets a casual footballer off their seat.. havaetz and trossard are Arsenal's best attacking players and no stats regarding corner assists, mishit freekicks dribbling into goal, completed limps, entries into the box, conversion of one one into lowblock can change it
