Me and my dad have an MG ZR express. We have put a 1.8 turbo in it and we are stripping it out. We're also getting the ECU remapped as we've got a ZT gearbox.

Lovely car and lovely build. Only one criticism though... who fitted those cam covers? The black gunk sealant at 1:09 is absolutely appauling. Something like Loctite 510 is way more suited than that rubbish. Makes you wonder what else got the black gunk treatment. That is certainly not what you want swimming around in your oil system (blocked pickup anyone)

Rawle Murrell hey so the brake setup does need a refresh as it was originally from the older version of the build that was between 200-300BHP but they are brembos from a Megan RS

What about the gearbox? Are you stil running with the PG1 with the bearing kit? Amazing build you got there. Congrats!

Cheers man, funny you mention the gearbox actually 😅 so got an uprated PG1 with ISF treated components Also got a gripper differential and the uprated bearings Now for the funny part.... I think the differential exploded last week.... so currently having the gearbox come off to be inspected and rebuilt 😅

Just forged my t16, can you point me in the right direction for an ecu? Looking for the chip that is a replacement for the maf sensor chip that allows me to remap but can't find anything

Yes and No. 19% is on the higher side for that car. But it's not unheard of. Alot of it depends on the condition of the gearbox and running gear, tracking, tires etc. Had a 480hp T16 myself back in the day. Nice to see people still doing them. I remember Grant when he was just starting out.

Why didn't they just reuse the T series engines instead of K series if it's this great btw this is indeed a weapon considering it's a small car.

Might have been to save costs and weight on newer engine blocks, as the K-series is much lighter but made of different materials Don't get me wrong though the K-series is a great engine still though and used in a lot of cars

More due to the fact the handling, diesel ZR's handle piss poor compared to k series zr and 25's also they used it because tbe rover 25 was im essence an economy car built for going up to the shops.and back the t series is good but vastly outdated, personally i am trying to get a new k series block from a new chinese mg as i have heard those have less distortion when turbo'd

Emmisons laws meant the T series needed updated. I run a MG ZS Mk2 with a t16 turbo. Great engine.
