I really don't want to purchase the new LX600 for the following reasons. It was supposed to be thw option for a Land Cruiser replacement but it has 22 inch wheels and a low hanging front grill. I agree it looks alright but that is not what I want in this type of purchase. I would much rather have better approach, departure and breakover angles. I really like the heavy duty nature of the cooling system and everything else that is built so well. That's what I really want. My hope is that they will offer a GR sport like version of the LX600 and make it more like the Land Cruiser 300. Another thing I don't care for is the tune that recommends high test fuel. The factor that drove up prices of old Land Cruisers was their indestructibility. They clearly used quality materials, but you really need to see how the turbo engines are holding up after a decade, and how many repairs become out of reach because of the lack of space under the hood. I am shocked that people think if the new turbo charged/hybrid engines will be reliable. Toyota has been making turbo charge engines since the 1980s. They also made the first mass hybrid car which is the Prius from 1997. They have tested these engines for 20 years. They know what they are doing. What is even more absurd is that people think Toyota is just simply stupid? Do you think the largest car producer in the world will ditch the only thing they are known for which is reliability? There are people 100x smarter than us sitting at Toyota making these decisions. Do not teach the most reliable company in the world to make reliable cars..

Waiting too long will turn it into scrap. They have no choice - the earlier one was fuel consumption mandated by the gov't. Now, they're also being taxed heavily on energy input in manufacturing, requiring very small engines. Reliability is now a luxury few can afford, and mass market cars can't carry that much tax or nobody will buy them. Why do you think new cars have doubled in price recently?

I felt as if I was listening to a review of the 2023 GX460. The conservative styled cockpit, rear seat legroom, third row room, quality materials, truck like design, handling, and indestructible. It seems that the GX became what the old Landcruiser/LX was at a reasonable price point. For 9/10’s of the LX you can have a GX for 30-40% less money. Less is more because it is easier to fit in a garage and parking space. As a bonus, the 18” tires cost half of what the 22’s do. Tires and oil changes will be the maintenance. I think the LX grew 1/10 bigger, but the price tag and unnecessary complexity increased at a much larger fraction.

You make so many valid points. I think the admiration of what Toyota designs is rarely appreciated. There are "fanboys" of all manufacturers, but owning a 10, 20, or even 30 year old Toyotas, I've found myself showing deep appreciation for their design going on short or long trips. This appreciation is hard to explain, but it comes through in your passion, which makes criticism even more valid. I've never hated any Toyota/Lexus I've owned, but clearly, they do quirky things, but for any true car enthusiast, if you put all biases aside, it would be impossible not to love the design & engineering put into Toyotas. Toyota has always had challenges when it comes to interior & exterior design, but what is beneath the bodies of Toyota is sheer magnificence (for the most part).

I think they avoid electric fan because of electrical load. A large electric fan can easily pull 40-50 amps. That means the alternator has to be larger, the alternator belt wider, other pulleys need to be wider, etc. Curious how big the alternator is already on this model. Perhaps someone can look up and comment. Sometimes driving a fan from the engine directly just simplifies things. The control side of the fluid coupling takes very little current, so not a significant electrical load.

The LX is tall, but looks and feels bigger than it actually is. My 570 wheelbase is only 120”, great for off-roading. After removing the third row seats and upgrading wheels, tires and running boards, it feels like the perfect size for extended trips. Biggest negative for me is the brakes.

Excellent review. Totally agree this is high quality compared to tundra and sequ oia. Wish interior was more like gx550. Be very interesting to see your review of upcoming gx550. For me it's either this or gx550 in next 4 years.

If you have a full size spare use that tire when you change all your 4 tires. Put one of the new tires on the spare and use the spare tire on the vehicle. This will prevent dry rot of the spare tire.

It seems to me they are following the trend with all of the other manufacturers. They don’t want you to work on their cars. Everything is covered in plastic and hard to get to. I’m an automotive technician I work on cars daily every brand vehicle today I worked on a Mercedes a Chevy Silverado and a Toyota forerunner. I am a huge Toyota fan, but I don’t like the directions to new Toyotas are going the same cheaper made, less DIY friendly.

First time watching your channel. What a great overview. Super knowledgeable and detailed. So much better then the typical KZbin regurgitated marketing talking points. I will tune in to your reviews from now on. Keep up the great work.

I get this as a Land Cruiser enthusiast but it’s so funny to see the carryover of a lot of stuff from my 01 Sequoia limited …I’ll keep mine and save the $$$$

It's nice. I can't recall you reviewing a Lexus nx 300h? I have one in the UK. I've enjoyed your videos for years now 😊👍

I love the red and black interior. I'm so glad we've moved away from the brown/tan and black interiors. That color match typically didn't match the exterior colors, regardless if it was on Toyota/Lexus or anyone else. I'm still waiting for Lexus to get rid of the hour glass grille shape. It's been ridiculous looking since day one.

I bought a new GX 460. No complaints. I know it’ll last forever. Turbo? V6? No thanks...

I truly like the Lexus lx600 but I wish it was a little bigger if they are going to make a 3 row out of it. I guess the TX is better in that regards.

So, since you mentioned the "Failing" QX80, I'm curious to get our take on the last V8, 2024 QX80.

Great review as always.... I would take this truck all around the world with no problems. This is the only truck that would be up for the task unlike those other expensive luxury wannabe suv's....Toyota and Lexus forever!!! 🤙

Of all the full-size truck-type vehicles on sale in the US today, the last really earnest one is the Nissan Armada. It is priced basically where it should be for what you get without any nonsense. But even that one doesn't have the dedicated off-road features found in other markets.
@youtubecarspottersguide1 Жыл бұрын
armada is sold as Nissan patrol in other markets, LC300 also it is more utilitarian diesel , 2 row cloth seats . 18" steel rims a off-road wagon not. over priced 3row luxury car like the LX600

I'll never have one of these (way too big for me, don't like that style of car) but it's a fascinating look into the car. Cheers ! Another button for your collection of things to look for : a pause button for the sound system. I didn't have one of these in my last Lexus (ES300h), so when I was pulling up to a security access gate I would need to dive through multiple menus to stop the sound system making noise. Lexus CT - there's a Button. Pull up to gate, press button, talk to guard people, get in to site, turn sounds back on. Easy ! Something you never realise is useful until you need it. PS Also missing my wireless phone charger. PS2 That third row seat is awful !

I was driving with my grandpa on the passenger seat and he got confused the volume knob with the drive mode knob. lol the layout is somewhat confusing if you don’t drive it daily. Some knobs are in odd places.
