Atleast Pujara had the guts to look ugly and take body blows which allowed the likes of gill and pant to score freely. Idhar sale kohli aur rohit apne shot khelna nahi chhodenge. I'm not saying ki Pujara hota to hum jit jate because he is also towards the end of his glorious career. But it's a bloody fact that the role which Pujara played in last two series, no one can do that. I mean, absolutely no one. Rahane wasn't also in good form before the MCG test. Also, the fact he ran out kohli triggered a collapse in Adelaide, must have been in his mind. But cometh the hour, he scored a 100 and showed the world what steel he's made of. Rahane doesn't have the pr, but as per me, he is 100 times more astute and tactically brilliant than the ever lazy Rohit Sharma. Mind you, it was Bumrah and Pandya who saved his arse after his horrible decision to bowl spin to the beast Heinrich klassen. Bumrah is operating at a god level currently. But he wasn't much behind in 2018 and 2021 series. If even one player put his hand up and played the role of Pujara, we wouldn't see Bumrah being so helpless. He needs some support from the batters, and is getting absolutely nothing.

Kusal! Virat has a technical deficiency! He put a band aid on it in 2018 but if you notice after that his back and across movement is not the same! His front press is not there anymore! He hangs on the back foot so his hands goes after for the cover drive but in 2018 he had the front press so he could go closer to the ball! Now it's not! If a layman like me can identify this? What are the analyst doing in the dressing room? Or no one wants to tell him this? Because of who he is?

The main issue is he is too dependent on his cover drive to score runs and teams now bowl 85% of the deliveries to Virat which are outside off-stump. Virat is a natural stroke maker. He can't be leaving all those. If he played more backfoot shots like square cuts etc, 90% of his issues would have been solved. His instincts are so good that he will rarely get lbw/bowled to incoming deliveries. The way he played in South Africa should be the way forward for him..

@shrikant285 Never said that we lost because of Sundar. In fact, he and NKR were instrumental in making a contest out of this match. All I am saying is about the expectation from the last recognized batsman when facing the last hour of a test match is to not expose the bowlers to save his wicket. It showed that he gave in the fight very soon and that is not a good sign even if we would have lost the match anyways.

If we know that Bumrah will take crucial wickets and all others are going to fall just because wickets fall, what’s the point of playing 5 bowlers including two spinners and one all round medium pacer Reddy (though he batted well)? We can easily drop one spinner and one other bowler and bring in Shubman Gill and any other batsman, even Sarafarz.

Guys. We should not be criticizing Jaiswal and Pant in the second innings. They have batted for 52 overs in total. Couldn't the rest of the team bat for another 40 overs to save the test? Then they don't deserve to be test players. Again, let us keep Washington and Reddy aside coz of what they did in the first innings. Kohli and Sharma have to face the majority of the criticism. They should have at least batted for 20 overs. We did not expect anything more from them. Now they are struggling to even play for 20 overs in total in one innings.

What I think is that we need Concrete to tear apart the Australian trio and lyon .In the test to morally tarnish the above is by playing them all day.And do it by playing two solid defense players if available Chaitesh/Rahul/Rajat and down the order Washington rest be it Jaiswal,Gill,Dhruv/Rishabh,Sarfaraj and Nitish who will play 3-4 runs per over and Cheteshwar/Rahul/Rajat and washington sole duty is to stay at crease.

I think one thing also had to be said about Virat’s lack of patience is his improved strike rate in t20s. After so much criticism he started batting quickly in IPL 2024 and then there was the t20WC and since then we didn’t play on batting friendly pitches in tests so Virat never spent time on crease courtesy our pitches in india. He clearly needs to play a whole domestic season but the problem in india is that such big stars find it insulting to play in domestic for some reason

So true. I agree with Nik, T20 and ODI are meaningless. The BCC must continue to prioritise test cricket. For Sydney, I would drop Siraj and Sundar. Replace with Krishna and Gill. Hence: Sharma, Jaiswal, Gill, Rahul, Kohli, Reddy, Pant, Jadeja, Krishna, Deep and Bumrah. Gives Kohli some respite from the new ball. With this set up, Reddy will need to bowl at least 10 overs each innings.

STUPID STUPID STUPID selection. There should be objective rules around selection in National teams. They were beaten at home by NZ under the underperforming Captain. Put an age limit too, based on the historical data of when players have usually retired. In the name of giving chance and praying to Almighty that these legends will click, can't be tolerated. Instead, the same should apply to supporting young talent who would fail but its an investment in future. These legends are taking opportunities away from young guns who might retire waiting for their chance on benches. Very disappointed looking at the lack of resolve esp. from Kohli. Let them join the team of legends and play in the same. Test Championship has the best teams in finals. It would've be a steal at the expense of a better team, had India qualified. The current team is not properly balanced. We won the first test under challenging conditions without Rohit who just had a newborn in the family. Imagine the level of distraction? How could he plug himself into the team which had just won? Don't we stick to a winning combination? Look at last time's BGT when Kohli (legend) felt that his newborn was much more important than representing the country and left the team in the middle of nowhere. In the hindsight, it was a blessing in disguise because that gave us a memorable series and performances to remember.
