Priya’s caliber of research, understanding of dharma and bringing it into the folds of the present context is superb. She makes the philosophy so easy and commonplace to follow. Congratulations

Excellent responses to the questions. Priya! I look forward to reading the epic through the perspective of Dharma. The conversation was so engaging and informative. It makes me ponder over the overwhelming wisdom of the legendary poet Valmiki. The Ramayana teaches us so much through the journey of Ram. Recently, India has been drowned in controversy over the Ayodhya temple and the bhumi. People have been so divided in their views and the beautiful vision of the Ram we loved as we were growing up in India, started to get distorted and it was almost embarrassing to even talk about Ram in recent years. However, Dharma doesn't change with religion...it is a philosophy, a way of life, your basic sense of fairness and balance as you perform life's duties. Keeping the focus on just the Dharma aspect of the Ramayana can lead to a sureshot way of living right. After all why else is my soul here.... to cleanse itself through relational interchange.

Author's perspective is well researched and focus is on a human being born to lead and teach the path of righteousness ie Dharma in all phases or circumstances of life and roles as lived by Rama. It inspires to comprehend that every human being born, as a universal energy on earth, can and consciously should follow the path of Dharma not as a religion but a way of life worth living.

As per Valmiki krut ramayana, Ram ruled for 10,000 years! Narad says ram was protector of varna system ( and hence discrimination, sambuk story) . He says in ram rajya masses also strictly adhered to varna system. Valmiki krut ramayana Ram is human who needs to learn every craft. Tulsidas deitified ram as avatar!!

You would be surprised to know there are temples dedicated to Lord Ramachandra as an avatar of vishnu even before Tulsidasji was born.

I am sure Ms. Arora has spent much time and effort on studying Sri Ram but, it is so sad to watch her fumbling to answer basic questions about Sri Ram. On pushing her further to a corner (Kushal pushes her very gently here. I have seen Kushal's aggressive Avatar) she literally goes back to the much maligned description of Sri Ram as championed by NCERT text books. Scholarship on Ramayana and Mahabharata needs to be developed and disseminated widely in India. We can argue and debate about Sri Ram's life and historicity till the cows come home but such debate should be data based. The best part of the conversation was Kushal celebrating Sri Ramjanmabhoomi temple. We have had enough of non-fact based, defensive description of Sri Ram. Ms. Arora's arguments are as sound and genuine as "Mohabet ke dukan" of politicians. Ram is for everybody !!!! Really ??? I am definitely not buying this book.
