Currently I am making 3 memory quilts out of clothes and have had to incorporate other new fabrics as sometimes this can’t be avoided. I also never really used IG until I discovered the quilt community. So much inspiration! I have about 100 quilts I want to make. Lol. I have to make myself stop looking sometimes! @@TheCatBirdQuilts We raised 4 daughters and had 9 grandchildren and now two great grandchildren. I remember one day the grandkids were planning a sleepover and kept asking for treats and fun things and anything they wanted it was “sure we can do that. “ Finally the two of my daughters that were having a couple of child free days due to said sleepovers, were looking at us with big wide eyes and mouths open, and one said to the other “ that is *NOT* the same woman that raised us!”. Their eye rolls that started when they were 9 or 10 are still present in their 40’s and 50’s. Be forewarned. Grandkids grow up twice as fast as your own kids and the great grands at least 4 times as fast.

Like you- I think I would end up with knots in my shoulders- and contrary to machine quilting- hand quilting is very relaxing. I know that traditional hand quilting with many many stitches per inch- "BIG STITCH QUILTING" goes rather quickly- and the result is also quite beautiful! I have such a fear of messing up a quilt top that I have taken the time and expense to make- that I stick to what I know. I have made 7 quilts this year so far- only baby size and throw size- but all hand quilted with big stitch quilting- I can quilt a throw in a weekend!
@TheCatBirdQuilts2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! For some reason I imagined it would be equally challenging-I haven’t hand-quilted before so I didn’t know that! Big stitch quilting seems to be all the rage right now, and I love the look of it! 😍 maybe someday soon I’ll try it out! ❤️😊👍🏻 Thank you for sharing!!

I notice that you always wear button up shirts. Is that so you can use your own shirts in a quilt when you no longer want them? Does it work as well as the men's dress shirts?
@TheCatBirdQuilts2 жыл бұрын
So I wear button up shirts because they are infinitely more flattering than t-shirts, and I don’t have the neck of a 20- or 30-something anymore! 😂 I have used Women’s shirts for fabric, but I have found that dealing with darts, extra seams tailored to make them fit, and decorative seams (plus the sizes are much smaller) make them not as useful or as good a bargain as mens shirts! 👍🏻
