Protein bars, nuts, raisins, crunchy veg- carrots, celery, & roasted edamame (or a mix of those) are all great snacks for the trail. Basically anything that's nutritious and shelf stable that won't be smashed in your pack. Bring lots of water and for longer sweaty hikes electrolyte powder packets to put in your water. Happy hiking!

So happy and excited to see you and Kitty back on the road again. It’s been awhile so you and your van just need to get your rhythm/groove back, it will all work out soon enough. I don’t know if you eat peanut butter, but little wraps filled with peanut butter, some nuts, dried fruit and carob chips would be a fantastic snack for your hikes. You are in great shape and I really love all the changes you have done inside your home - it must feel really good going and hanging out with nature and the beautiful scenery along your journeys. Every time I get air in the tires, I forget to set the reset button or the light stays on. My daughter showed me an electric tire pump she got at Walmart. You plug it into the jackery to use it. Maybe a few of those protein balls you make would carry better than a banana. Looking forward to seeing where you are going this summer.

Those darn sensors are not cheap either, got 4 new tires and right after paying for it, mechanic came in and said " Need to add a sensor too, I broke the one on the driver rear and put a new one on" they wouldn't give me my keys till I paid the $50 for it!! Believe me I did a review on it also and many agreed with me, they broke it, they should have not charged for it!! But they wouldn't release the van til I paid it!! So glad to see you back on the road!! Been missing this & your fabulous photos you get and share with us!! Plus yes as someone else said, you would have the best calendar ever just with those photos you get!! ❤❤❤

For a 1 hour hike, I wouldn't bring anything to eat. Water, yes, but probably not even that, actually. For a longer hike, Cliff bars. I also really like a simple trail mix of blanched peanuts and dried cranberries.

I do nuts, pumpkin seeds, and different dehydrated fruits. I also love dehydrate zucchini. Dehydrated, fruits and vegetables are great for hikes because they’re compact and easy to carry but just make sure you drink lots of water to make up for how “dry” they are.

Yours, after so many months of van repair, was probably a true test...But You Did It! Yay! I understand that having protein within 20 minutes after muscle use helps promote its strength.

Beautiful hike, and great to have A/C working. A youtuber called Foresty Forest does hikes in BC (and other places) with his little puppy. Some places you can stay overnight in a hut. He might be worth a watch for you if you wanted to learn equipment or to do different trails (though not his big ones), a very gentle and respectful Canuck guy.
