68 seconds! I can’t believe this made it on air as is. Surely, they’d have stopped & reset these days. Reminds me how much I miss those moments on game shows when things go wrong...

If you watch The Perfect Bid when they do these shows to time then you don't need to edit these moments out. For all the models chats and bloopers/extras we got in earlier years they seemed to be a machine on doing these shows efficiently.

I think it really comes through in this clip, but Rod Roddy was a very jovial person, and fairly unflappable in his duties as an announcer. I was a guest of the show in the early 1990s and got to meet Rod during rehearsal before the audience was loaded. He couldn't have been nicer. A real pro. Rest in peace, Rod Roddy.

Also just one of the reasons why they put names on cue cards and flash them to the audience...so you can "see" your name being called.

I attended 7 tapings in 2018-2019 and I don’t like how you have to read the name on the card because you can’t even hear the persons name being called because the crowd is insanely loud. I liked these days when they told the audience to be quiet when people were getting called down

I was the first person to be called on down in 1996 and they used cue cards with my name cause you cant hear the announcer at the beginning of the show. This happened 2 years after my show so not sure why the cue card wasnt used of if she just didnt see it

I attended a taping of the show in the early 2000's and it is extremly noisy in the studio. It is so loud that you cant hear the announcer especially during the intro when they are calling the first four contestants. So they use large cue cards with the contestants name on them. Its possible that the wrong name was on the cue card, so she never came on down. After the commercial break when they go to call the next contestant, the audience is quiet until the next name is called it was at this point that Nicole could hear her name clearly. This is of course my guess based on when I observed when i was there.
