Actually there was a bit of a trick there. It's not just hard-edged Melodyne, it was specific old version of a Melodyne, used specifically at the Portal's release date. Older version algorithm has glitches and artifacts that associated with GLaDOS voice. Anyone can obviously use just regular up-to-date Melodyne, but it would be a slightly different sound. We got some hints from Valve's sound engineers as I remember.
