Mephisto Phoenix #3 - Basic Play Modes Intro

Ordered the Phoenix Mephisto with the tournament sized board last week at Chesshouse and received it in Europe 3 days later, impressive product and service too. The board and pieces are nice, the computer unit has great build quality. I’d say overall higher quality then I have seen from Millennium in the past. Written as a DGT Rosewood e-board with Royal weighted pieces owner.

So, how does the Phoenix (including Phoenix T board) compare to a DGT Revelation II AE? I am really undecided.

What I dislike about the DGT boards is their lack of LED's. Other than Mephisto and Millennium boards, you could check the Italian company, Certabo. Chessnut is another one to check, but their boards do use a rechargeable battery. That may or may not be a deciding factor. Personally, I'd prefer a mains connection.

If you purchase the Mephisto Phoenix T without the module, what are you able to do with the board? It says "This product is not a stand alone electronic chess set".
