Building a Beautiful Staircase - (Nicolock) "Irregular Steps"

We are installing some really nice stone slab steps in this video. They are actually poured concrete made to look like natural stone slabs. I have used these on a handful of projects and I like them more and more every time... Enjoy the video!

- Steps are manufactured by (Nicolock) and are called (Irregular Steps) with a color tone of (Bluestone).
- The wall block we used is made by (Techo Bloc) and is called (Semma) with a color tone of (Shale Grey).
- The wall cap is also made by (Techo Bloc) and is called (Architectural Cap) with color tone of (Onyx Black).
- The pavers we used are made by (Techo Bloc) and are called (Blu 60) with a color tone of (Shale Grey).
- The border pavers are (Blu 60) as well but only the small size of the 3 piece pattern and the color tone is called (Onyx Black).

Lol I have slid down my hill too many times to count in the mud, when you are in your 70's that's the last thing you want! At least the mud is soft and never broke anything 😅 I can't wait until my retaining wall and steps are done!

I have installed some landscape lighting here and there. I should probably push it more but most see the price tag of it and are not interested. I 100% agree with you though, they are a great addition to a project. I would love to see those steps lit up at night with some under cap lighting and pathway lights. Thanks for the feedback! ✌

Another great video boys steps look awesome. It’s amazing how mud can be more dangerous than ice sometimes on the job sites I’ve had a few close calls in the mud lol can be dangerous when we’re playing around heavy equipment that isn’t forgiving on the body.

Thank you, some of the smaller steps had to be shifted over a bit so they did not look too small compared to the rest.

Awesome, thank you! I'm glad the videos have been helpful for you. So just the walls alone, it costed about $6,000 for the block, cap, fabric, geogrid, glue, stone, dirt, etc...

Awesome finished product! With the size or unevenness of the steps, is that why you didn't use that gripper thing you've used before that clamps as you lift up the boom? Or was that on the skid... For the padding, you should try and asking around equestrian places for stall mats that they may be getting rid of or just go buy some. They'll last you a long time with an initial expense up front.

Thank you! And yes, it can be difficult to use that clamp with how uneven they are. But sometimes we have to use it depending on the access. Fortunately we were able to set them all with just the bucket and thumb on this one which is way quicker... I will have to look into the stall mats, not a bad idea at all. ✌

Thanks John! Those are Blu 60 pavers. The 2 to 1 rule makes sure the lower wall is not holding the pressure of the top wall. It also accounts for some room if the top wall were to ever fail and collapse. Having that much room will catch the fall. ✌

looks like you had one of the big pave tool clamps at the job. why didn't you end up using it to move the steps?

I did have a (BL-980) clamp which is great for large slabs but honestly, using the bucket and thumb is way quicker if you can access it like I was able too. Especially on the odd shaped steps in this bundle because the clamp can be tricky to set up in a place where it wont slip. And sometimes when you find a place it holds, it is unbalanced and does not lift correctly... So I just use the thumb and bucket whenever I can. ✌

I hear you and wish I could but it is not worth risking my equipment or the customers property. He is 16 and here in Massachusetts, you could really screw yourself as a business owner if something goes wrong. The day he turns 18 and can legally use them, he will be in them without a doubt ✌

I really love that trailer. I bought it in 2021 and have really worked it hard. No complaints at all. I don't have much experience with other dump trailers but I will stick by their trailers for sure.... Looking forward to the day I can buy a tilt deck equipment trailer, they have a few really nice models available.

@@bigredoutdoorservices I hear you, the regular steel dump trailers just seem to rust very quickly. I went back and forth on a few when I was in the market for it, decided to pull the trigger on spending the extra $5,000 for this one because everything is galvanized other than the pump box and tarp cover which are aluminum. Should have this baby for many years to come.
