I've recently had a go at a five colour logo with fine detail on a mirror by repeatedly burning and spray painting. The key it to fit some rigid stops to the bed so you can replace the mirror in exactly the same place. I found If painting with light colours like white or yellow it's important to wash and dry the back of the mirror or the dust created by the laser can show up bleeding into the paint. I only needed to lift the mirror 1/8th of an inch off the honeycomb. I'm using a 10W laser at 4000mm/min 80% and two passes. Sometimes when removing paint and mirror at the same time I cleaned off the dust and did a 3rd pass at 90 degrees.

However I will still predominantly be using lightburn, so I was wondering if you will be making a video on using the RA2 pro chuck rotary with lightburn for the S1? Many thanks.

Have you tried engraving acrylic mirrror? I found it in temu 4pcs 30X30 mm about 15€ free shipping, Is lighter and it comes with stickers. If you put them in frame you can't tell the difference. i am watching way too much S1 tutorial while waiting for my S1 to ship.. I watched 1 where Kai from xTool scores a crosshair on the jig to use that as the guide to square and position the template. it is the one where he cosplay as santa wondering if he can batch job ceramic coasters on the S1. I think incorporating good ideas on different builds can help make tools that ease the making process.

Pardon the elementary question, but from you experience, is it faster to run the laser at high speeds on fewer items in the middle (like how your new jigs are built), rather than take full advantage of the laser's working space and do more items at once?
@TheClackShack11 ай бұрын
I prefer the faster speeds, running slower speeds and loading the work area will result in hours long runs. That doesn't afford breaks or time to prep the completed pieces. Being a one man operation, I prefer smaller batches. with coasters, I usually do sets of 4 with a design. I also run 3 lasers at a time on big jobs. with the smaller items, you can stack more in the workspace.

New and haven’t setup my S1 yet but my question is can the S1 engrave a 12 inch mirror? Is the limit to the 10 inch mirror due to the frame or the jig requirement? Love your videos so helpful
@philipershler42011 ай бұрын
@@PinkRibbionJayGeeThe S1 has a working area of 19.61” X 13”. So if you can get 12” mirrors, you could do those. But you would have to design your own frames. That wouldn’t be a very difficult job.
