Many years ago, driving across Nebraska at night, I picked up an all night radio station just as they were introducing this work. It kept me company during a long stretch of I-80, and ended just before I ran into a rain storm and lost the station. Now, every time I hear it, that long stretch of boring concrete pops into my mind. I'm glad I had this for company that night.

This music is heavenly, sublime, pure beauty ... and it recalls me somehow of a wonderful book I read when I still was a young boy. It was a biographical novel about the Cappella Sistina period of the brilliant sculptor and painter Michelangelo Buonarroti, written by Irving Stone, an American author. The title of this novel is "The agony and the ecstasy", meaning how much inner suffering Michelangelo had to experience, before he could joyfully "reach his unreachable star" ... Something like that I have the impression to feel right here ... these stunning, breathtaking notes seem to speak about a deep suffering, which the composer Joaquín Rodrigo had most probably to go through, to finally get to "that land of pure harmony and beauty" he always dreamed of ...

Si,la compuso cuando perdió a su hija y su mujer estuvo a punto de morir, Es una plegaria, oración y diálogo con Dios,Joaquín Rodrigo es la guitarra y la Orquesta es Dios,se puede sentir el llanto y dolor de esa guitarra preguntando el por qué,al final que queda en paz y acepta su perdida y la voluntad de Dios cuando Dios le dice que su hija está bien y está con él.

This performance was beautifully executed. This piece is such a soothing and amazing one to listen to. Even though this was just a small portion of the entire piece one could see how difficult this musical artwork really is to perform. With so many techniques, instruments, and players needed to have it all come together this was truly entertaining to watch and I would love to experience this in person some day. With the guitar being the main instrument being played and shown for the majority of the video one can see all of the finger movements required to play this piece. I can see how many hours of practicing went in to make this a successful performance as the guitar portion in this work is a very complicated one to play correctly.
