Lots of good news - a Gator will be coming into your life to make things easier soon; it looks like Ziggy will be staying (yay!); Tiny stays nice and warm in cold weather; Nigel is using his tent; a new horse might be coming soon; and Huckleberry is so smart to tell you he is too cold to stay outside anymore. Yes, your life is not for everyone. I think it is wonderful! I used to have a job (feeding, grooming, walking, grazing, lunging, training sometimes, trimming goat and sheep hooves, clipping, and bathing them - yes, I washed the sheep with Woolite! ) taking care of a llama, a sheep, 2 Pygmy goats, a miniature donkey, and 1-3 ponies/mini horses. My husband came to work with me one day. His summary of my job was - “This is soooo boring. How can you do this job 4 days a week??!!?”. I was deliriously happy, and it was my best job ever!

We lived in Colorado and my dad found a casket company that had tons(!) of cedar flakes and we would bring home huge farm truck loads of cedar for stall bedding. People came and always complimented us on how wonderful our horse barn smelled. Fourteen stalls and it was always neat as a pin. It was so easy to remove the manure.. I loved it as a kid....it just smelled so good.We raised quarter race horses and had stallions we put in the stalls and they had long 'runs' just outside their outer stall doors. They exercised themselves in the long runs...they loved to run and buck and jump and it was perfect for them, and entertained us at the house as we had a 'front row seat' on the slightly elevated house and yard that overlooked the barns and pastures.

I would love to go back in time.

I hope you just continue doing what you do for your horses. Some people think to own a horse they must be ridden and it is just not true for all horses or all situations. But heaven knows people are more than ready to tell you what they think you should be doing with your horses. Your horses are fortunate to have you caring for them. @lynnegee6814 if the fence is real stable that's a really good idea. She put a frame, but it's going to be the sides and top that will remain flimsy. But Nigel wouldn't like it any other way.

I love your life, snow and all (winter is my favorite season, as I run pretty hot). Scarlett cracks me up only putting her head in her stall so she can eat her hay. Maybe we'll see her use it when it gets really cold, snowy and blowy :) I love so many things about what you do. Today's favorite is how accommodating you are toward each lucky, lucky horse in your herd. If Scarlett wants to stay outside, you fix it so she can. Nigel hates coming in, so you've rigged him a shelter outside. Horses like everyone else are not one-size-fits-all. Your in-tuness with them and finding ways to make each of them happy are wonderful. I often want to call your herd The Herd of Misfit Horses, but am concerned some people might think I was being insulting when I love how individual they all are, have had some bad starts in life, and have landed in the best place in the world for misunderstood horses. Thank you for all that you do for them and letting us tag along, CC.

If you love horses, it doesn't feel like work at all. I used to get up at 4 in the morning to take care of my own three. I personally loved everything about it, riding in the early morning and all the barn's different aromas. Someone once asked me why I was willing to do all that work, and I just said, because that's me, it's who I am. My brother had a horse, and he would sometimes put him in the backyard of our house. and I can remember going outside as a toddler and walking between his legs, or patting his belly. Prince was careful of where I was evidently because I was never hurt. But that's the very first moment of bonding with a horse I suppose, and they've had my heart ever since. You do such a great job with yours, and work hard to properly maintain them, and if that's not love, I don't know what is.❤

I completely understand your satisfaction with working with rehabbing horses. I worked on an Appy breeding farm and had one mare that was bought who was terrified of the farrier(Rearing ,kicking ect ). After a year of working with her when she fell asleep while the farrier was working on her was such huge moment for all of us, her ,the farrier and me.

I've been horse "crazy" since I can remember and have been blessed to have several over the years but the one I was most gratified to help was a member of a herd I didn't own but managed. He was bought by the owner sight unseen and when he arrived he was so thin I'd put him on the scale they use to measure thin-ness at, at about a 1 or 2. I wasn't even sure he'd make it through the night. Long story short, I spent the winter re-feeding him and by summer he was unrecognizable. He turned out to be a really beautiful appaloosa with the sweetest personality and was well trained as well. I get why you do what you do and when you're like us the "work" really isn't work in the sense that it is empty time wasters like most jobs. It's beyond satisfying to see a sweet soul begin healing. You go girl! (:

CC, what you have created and are doing for these beauties in need....is a paradise. You have a great life, a purposeful life and a healthy life. You are living and doing what many have dreamt of and dreams can come true with you as their inspiration. Always wonderful visiting your stables each week.

Fragile minds ... that's a good description. They're physically fit and well, and there's no reason that can be _seen_ , that they can't just be saddled up and ridden away, but ..

I'm hoping Ziggy has a definite edge for being a keeper! He has such a pleasant manner and enjoys being worked with! A trail ride now and then would be great for him too!!

CC, I adore how you call out to each and every horse, tiny kitty and your beautiful dog…each time you say their names; you have a completely different intonation…the second I see Nigel, Ziggy, mare, and Frisco Bill I use the same intonation…thank you so much for sharing your daily life…love your channel… Keeping fingers crossed you get the mustang you want to add to your herd!!! Thank you!

You can just hear the Exclamation Points!!!! in CC's voice as she says each horse's name. I especially enjoy the sing-song cadence of, "Niiii-gel!!!" I say their names along with her too. I sure miss my horses more and more at 68 years. The years probably ahead of me stretch on horse-lessly so I appreciate this channel greatly. Living my best life through CC's rescuing of horses.
